Talking about SteemSavvy

SteemSavvy

My friend Jon Olson (@jongolson) launched SteemSavvy almost 6 month ago, I believe.

This is a project he believes in, a project that suites him very well (because he has a history of putting together training websites) and a project that can help new Steemians learn the ropes of Steem, step by step, in bite-chunk video lessons.

I joined SteemSavvy when Jon launched it, not because I needed the training, but because I knew this project can help a lot of people, and I wanted to be inside as it happens, to see it transform.

I stayed away for a while, so I can experience the changes Jon and Blain (the programmer) add to the website in a few months time.

Sure I read about the news in Jon's posts. But it's different when you actually use the site.

So, in 6 months, Jon added much more video lessons (grouped in 4 modules, which become accessible as each previous module is completed; first module is "Steem Basics"). He also changed some of them. We all know in the world of blockchain, things change quickly, so training needs to be adapted continuously.

On the programming side, badges made their appearance. Completing some of the lessons will give you a badge. You also have the option to share this achievement on Facebook and/or Twitter, thus spreading the word about SteemSavvy, and Steem in general.

You also have a profile, where you show off all your badges (also with a referral link, if someone decides to join SteemSavvy using your link). Here's mine: https://steemsavvy.com/@gadrian

Since I went through all the training now, I think I have all the badges.

But what would be the point to refer someone to SteemSavvy you may ask. After all you don't receive a commission or a bonus for that.

And that is true. However, during the training, Jon talks about certain apps and dApps which have a referral program. And when you complete the respective lesson, you can set your referral link for it. And if anyone you referred to SteemSavvy joins (or starts using for the first time in some cases) such a program using the link from SteemSavvy, it will become your referral in that program.

Let's give an example. Let's say you refer Peter to SteemSavvy. You have previously gone through the training and have your referral ids set up for all the dapps.

Peter is new and goes through the 'Dapps of Steem' module. At some point, there is a lesson about Steem Monsters. Peter clicks the banner below the video to join Steem Monsters, because he never used it and wants to try it.

If he goes through and purchases the starter pack, you will be his referrer who receives the 5% referral reward. And any booster pack purchases he makes afterwards, you make 5% off them too.

That's the case with Steem Monsters. But there are several dapps which have referrals programs. If they are presented in the training of SteemSavvy, and your referral joins them using the link from SteemSavvy, you will have the referrer benefits.

You can simply promote one thing, SteemSavvy, and build referrals in more
programs. At the same time, the new members have free access to easy-to-understand training, so they don't feel lost when they arrive in the Steem ecosystem.

Does this make sense to you?

Another pair of eyes always helps. I wanted to write about SteemSavvy again for some time, but something always came up (because I wanted to have time to watch the new videos too)

I have also been grinding through the videos which are great and really think that they are the best tool out there for onboarding on the ecosystem. I am still enjoying it as learning different approaches and angles is great as well!

Oh yeah, Jon makes these videos very easy to understand, which is great for onboarding, plus there is a discord server where anyone will be helped if he/she gets stuck. It's also great he approaches different areas of interest, you never know what a newcomer is interested in.
