Hi everyone.

Today I made another attempt at a wood pour.

Alright it's melting nice with the new ceramic crucible.

Poured into a walnut block then dumped in a Green Giant corn niblets can, as is the traditional method.

So there we go! My second attempt at pouring silver, it's not perfect, bit I'm fairly well pleased. Its just under an ounce, and I'll stamp it at work this next week.

Thanks for reading!

Nice pour, you need to get you some graphite molds. they are reasonable.

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

I saw some on Amazon. But I figured I'd try like the old timers used to do...

Pretty cool piece you got there! I found that I got good results in softer wood. I would pour into the wood, then dump out the silver and the wood would have nice deep groves from burning. I would then melt the silver and re-pour it into the same wood mold now with the deeper grooves. Might make a more pronounced effect, but I'm no pro. Only have a few wood pours under my belt.

I'll try some softwood. This may look better with another pour in the mould as well. Its all experimental.

Nice work bud good luck on your pouring adventure! :-)

Thanks man.

Keep on pouring brother.....👍

Nothing better than having fun and having results. Step by step approaching the Mastery.

It is kinda fun... And a bit frustrating, lol. But I'm still learning!

Practice makes perfect, keep having fun big guy.

Cool. Have to start somewhere. Looking forward to seeing the progress. Keep pouring! Oh and nice traditional niblets can haha

Thanks eyeofthemind. At least it poured this time, lol, last time it just got melty and made a blob.

Looks like you're having fun with it. What kind of torch do you use? Also, what does the Borax do?
I'm thinking of getting into pouring, so trying to learn what I can before jumping in.

I used MAP gas. Acetylene would be better. The borax is supposed to keep it from sticking to the crucible.
