Coin Shop Currency - Two Twenty Dollar Star Notes

Just some quick photos of Coin Shop Currency - Two Twenty Dollar Star Notes

I picked up these Two Twenty Dollar Star Notes at different times in change.

As stated in my previous post, a star note is a replacement bill that was printed to replace a faulty one. A faulty one could have been printed incorrectly or it could have been damaged and returned.

There are thousands of replacement bills needed. The original serial number is not 're-used'. A new series of numbers are used. The serial numbers of all U.S. currency must be unique. The replacement bill has a serial number that ends with a star.

Some star notes are part a set of low number in the series, which makes them rare and worth more than face value.
However, most star notes are considered less rare they are not worth more than face value.

I took these Star Notes to the local coin shop to find that they are collectible. Again, similar to my previous One Dollar Star Note, these are less rare. So, I will hold on to them. Essentially, I put my star notes together and keep them for future reference.

Thanks to @rollingthunder for posting about a website which has data for these star notes. http://www.mycurrencycollection.com/reference/star-notes/lookup

I remember the last post about this. I wondered why would the star notes not be of greater value because during printing there must be very faulty notes. (I mentioned that in the comment as well)

So now the mystery is solved because its not just the faulty notes but also the replaced notes. That would make sense because a lot of notes do get damaged all the time

I think they should have some sort of extra value. . . so I keep them.

Thanks for this new information

Just passing on the information to all.

I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing. I learned something today. I'm going to have to search through my bills and see if I have any stars. :)

I look for stars with all cash placed in my hands, at the ATM, Taco Bell, bank, everywhere.

Have you found any that were actually rare? If so, how much more than face value were they worth?

I haven't found any rare but actually I think that they are 'all' rare because they are hard to find. So, I always keep them and I expect they will be more valuable in the future.

I had quite a few bills on hand and I only found one, so you're right about them being rare. I hope you're right and that you can get some extra money for them someday.
