Daily Coin # 80 A Tiny .925 Gem From Australia
Today's coin is a very nice condition 3 pence from Australia . Australia produced .925 coins much later than most countries and in the next few days I will show you some !! This first little gem is minted from .925 silver , weighs 1.4 grams , and is 16 mm in diameter by 0.8 mm thick .
The obverse features a portrait of King George the fifth of Britain facing to the left and the words " GEORGIVS V D.G.BRITT: OMN:REX F.D.IND:IMP: ·"(Translation: George V by the Grace of God, King of all the British territories, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India) written around the outside .
The reverse of this coin shows to iconic Australian animals (a kangaroo and an emu ) flanking the Australian coat of arms . With THREEPENCE written above and 1928 below .
The edge of this coin is smooth .
