# 100 - Magic the Gathering in Silver
Magic the Gathering is the first and most widely played trading card game, with more than 12 million players and fans in more than 70 countries worldwide.
Players take on the role of Planewalkers, powerful mages who battle others for glory, knowledge and conquest.
Their weapons include spells, creatures and artifacts gathered from a vast multiverse of unique fantasy worlds.
One of the Planewalkers that live in a Magic card is Jace Beleren, the Mind Sculptor, who appeared in the Worldwake release.
This 2014 Niue $2 "Jace, the Mind Sculptor" was issued by the New Zealand Mint weighting 1oz with 99,9% silver purity and Proof/Colored finish. Its mintage was 5,000 coins.
The reverse features the original artwork of the Magic card, by Jason Chan.
The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

OMG!!!! I did not know there is a MTG series!! I love it! Man, now I have another theme to collect!!
I don't know of any other Magic card that became a round/bar.

What a beautiful bar! I played a lot of MtG as a kid, but was out of it before they introduced Jace and the other Planeswalkers, so I'm not too familiar with him. Had no idea this existed. Thanks for posting it.
Jace is a card so powerful that you can only play it in Legacy or Vintage.
I've played this game off and on for years ( I remember waiting for beta to come out) and had no idea they made this now I have a mission

I think the only thing that matters, is that you are happy with the purchase.
Stacking silver and investing in something valuable like MTG cards, just doesn't mix for me. Perhaps it's also that colorized silver "art" bars/rounds in my humble opinion are gimmicks to sell to the fickle and ill-informed.
Again if you're happy that's great! I love stacking PMs and will always appreciate MTG.
