# 130 - America the Beautiful Quarters - Part 3

in #steemsilvergold6 years ago (edited)

Continuing the State Quarters series, the US Mint started in 2010 a new series depicting a national park or national site, one from each state, the District of Columbia, and each territory. It is called "America the Beautiful".

They will be issued in the order of which that park or site was deemed a national site.

Each year five different coins representing five different parks or sites will be minted.

All the coins obverses show the same profile of George Washington and the reverses were usually chosen in popular contests in each state.

Here are three more coins issued in this series.

The first is the 2011 "Glacier National Park" in Montana. It was deemed a National Park on February 22, 1897. The obverse depicts a mountain goat with Reynolds Mountain in the background.

The third is the 2011 "Vicksburg National Military Park" in Mississippi, It was deemed a National Park on February 21, 1899. The obverse depicts the USS Cairo on the Yazoo River.

Of the three, I like the Glacier and the Olympic! Beautiful coins! It would be wonderful idea to collect them since I can't make it to all those places, LOL!

There are four ways to collect them: a) Searching your pockets. b) Buying uncirculated clad ones at LCS. c) Buying proof silver unslabbed at LCS. d) Buying proof silver/clad slabbed on Ebay or Internet stores.

YAY!!!!

I see Mt Olympus in Olympic National Park everyday from the end of my street.

Darn neighbor’s trees block the view from my house.... 😒

Don't you live in California? So near Washington State?

We vacation in California a lot but live just north of Seattle, Washington. ☺️

Very nice coin. Washington state is beautiful country.

I am very happy to see you here. Congrats on Yensesa!

Beautiful! I like the elk piece best, among these 3.

National Parks are beautiful, most of them.

The Elk coin is my favorite!! All of them are a nice set tho. One for every state? That's pretty neat. I think I may have also seen a version of some of them as 10 oz coins.

The Mint issued this $.25 coins on a normal size and then issued the same design on a 5oz silver coin.
