# 221 - A Seleucid Tetradrachm
The Seleucid Empire was a Hellenistic state ruled by the Seleucid dynasty, which existed from 312 BC to 63 BC.
At the height of its power, the Empire included central Anatolia, Persia, the Levant, Mesopotamia, and what is now Kuwait, Afghanistan, and parts of Pakistan and Turkmenistan.
Antiochus VII Sidetes reigned from July/August 138 to 129 BC.
This AR(silver) Tetradrachm was minted in the Antioch Mint during his reign and weights 16.54g.
The obverse depicts his diademed head facing right.
The reverse shows Athena standing left, holding Nike and spear, left hand resting on shield, all within wreath.
The price of this coin is around U$350.00.
