# 244 - Paralympics Blind Runner
Continuing the Modern Commemoratives Dollar series, we will present you today the 1995 "Paralympics Blind Runner" graded by PCGS PR70 DCAM.
All coins of this series weight 26.73g with 90% silver purity. They were issued in Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated finish.
They will be presented in the order they were minted.
This coin was issued as part of an ambitious range of commemorative coins issued for the XXVI Olympiad Summer Games held in Atlanta, Georgia.
The obverse of the coin features a blind runner tethered to his seeing companion during a race. This was designed by James C. Sharpe and modeled by Thomas D. Rogers.
The reverse features a design used in common for all of the 1995 Olympic Silver Dollars issued. This portrays the clasped hands of two athletes. The joined hands represent the brotherhood and team spirit of the Olympic Games.
A total of 138,337 coins were minted in Philadelphia. The issue price was U$34.95. The actual price is around U$340.00 in this grade.

I like to watch the Blind Runners. It shows an extreme cooperation between two athletes, where one of them, the seeing one, must not surpass his/her companion during the whole run.
I like to watch it too, but I love to see the Blind Soccer. They use a ball with some small bells and the players must kick the ball only hearing where it is.
