# 272 - National Parks
Continuing the Modern Commemoratives Half Dollar series, we will present you today the 2016-S "National Parks", graded PR70 DCAM by PCGS.
All coins of this series weight 11.34g with 91.67% copper and 8.33% nickel. They were issued in Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated finish.
They will be presented in the order they were minted.
The coin was as part of the commemorative coin program to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service, the agency responsible for the management of all U.S. National Parks, many national monuments, and other historical properties.
The obverse design of the coin features a split image of a hiker discovering the majesty of the wilderness and a small child discovering a frog hidden among ferns.
The reverse is the National Park Service logo, which has been in use since 1951. Within the logo, the Sequoia tree represents vegetation, the bison represents wildlife, the mountains and water represent scenic and recreational aspects, and the arrowhead represents historical and archaeological aspects.
A total of 54,845 coins were minted in San Francisco. The issue price was U$25.95. The actual price is around U$150.00 in this grade.

How did you ever manage to get all these amazing coins down there? Awesome collection!
I bought all of them on Ebay. I had a friend that lived in US and I sent all the coins to his home. Whenever I visited him I would bring all the coins back to Brazil.
