# 553 - The Canadian Snowbirds

Today I will show you the Royal Canadian Mint tribute to the "Canadian Snowbirds".

With their exciting loops, breathtaking rolls and awe-inspiring nine-jet formations, the Canadian Forces Snowbirds are arguably the pre-eminent aerobatic demonstration team in the world.
Their distinctive red and white aircraft - often flying with wing tips about 4 feet (1.2 metres) apart - excite millions of spectators every year with displays of aerial perfection in formation aerobatic flight.

The only team in North America to fly with nine jets in close formation, the Snowbirds perform more than 50 different dynamic, precise and exciting formations and maneuvers during their famed shows including the Canada Goose, the Maple and the Double Diamond, which is the tightest flown, fasted rolled, most agile formation in the Snowbirds' display.
Around the world, the Snowbirds' precision, agility and expertise in these remarkable aerobatic maneuvers is legendary, and leaves spectators thrilled and awe inspired.

It is a 2006 $5 CAD with 99.99% silver purity and Double Hologram Proof. Its mintage was 10,034 units, its weight is 25.17g (0.81oz) and the issue price was $59.95 CAD.

This double hologram is almost impossible to be well photographed because it depends on the light and the angle you are looking at the coin.
