# 95 - O Canada in Silver - Part 3

in #steemsilvergold6 years ago (edited)

We will now continue presenting the "O Canada" silver series issued by the RCM in 2013.

The series replicates several aspects of Canadian history, animals, places and traditions.

Each coin is a $10 weighting 15.87g with silver purity 99.99% and Matte Proof finish.

The first coin is the 2013 "Niagara Falls". It presents a man, woman, and child standing behind the fence on an observation deck at the base of Horseshoe Falls, one of the three waterfalls that makes up the Niagara Falls. The Falls are viewed from a vantage point to the right and below, near their base, highlighting their massive size and power. Behind the falls, in the right portion of the central field, the jagged rock face of the Niagara Gorge is visible.

The second coin is the 2013 "The Caribou". It presents a male caribou set against the rugged terrain of the Canadian North. The caribou peers at the viewer with his right eye, his powerful neck turned to his left. Below and behind him we see the snow-covered rocky ground and characteristic pines of Canada’s northern boreal forest. In the distance, mountains stretch out along the horizon.

The third coin is the 2013 "Hockey". It showcases a group of individuals enjoying a pick-up game on a small rink. In the foreground, we see the backs of a father and child, sticks over their shoulders and skates hanging from the sticks by their laces in a typical Canadian fashion. On the rink itself, an adult and several children are engaged in a game. The adult and one of the children wave their hands and sticks high in the air, signaling perhaps that someone has scored a goal.

The Royal Canadian Mint is prolific producing all sorts of coins and designs for bullion collection. And I think that they have the best designs, especially in wildlife. I am curious about milk spotting in Canadian bullion coins. What is your experience with that?

Would you believe that I have zero milk spots on my bullion coins? RCM changed their process of minting bullion coins and they promised that after 2018 there will be no more milk spots. I hope so.

You have the most beautiful coin collection. In this post I think my favorite it Niagra.☺️

I am not a good photographer. In real life the coins look much better.

May I ask how much these set you back?

They look great!

I bought the coins in this set (2013) individually, but the 2014 set (10 coins) costed me CAN$200.00.
