A Tribute To 'The OLD MAN'!!!

Majority of people who live in the United States are familar with the television show known as Pawn Stars. The show debuted in 2009. To offer some background information for those are not familar. Gold and Silver Pawn is a shop based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Family owned and operated by three generations.

The television show highlights the day to day happenings of a family ran-run store. Often showing the unique items that are brought into the pawn shop. They would call in specialists that discuss the items and it's value. After a price is established they then negotiate a deal. This show has been around for a long time! Countless amazing pieces of history have entered that store.

In 2015, the owners of the store decided to produce a limited run of silver rounds. The rounds were stamped with the face of 'The Old Man.' He is the patriarch of the family and set in his old ways. The coins hit the market and reached a collectible status almost immediatly.

Unfortunately, on June 25, 2018 Richard Harrison aka "The Old Man" passed away at the age of 77. I have great respect for hard working individuals that deeply provide for their family. This man not only built a thriving business for his son and grandson. He left a legacy behind for several generations to come. NOW THAT IS AMAZING!!

I had been looking to aquire a 1oz silver round since production. Sadly, I never really had or created the right opportunity. Last week, I was scrolling through Instagram and I just so happen to notice one for sale. I purchased it immediately!! The seller was kind enough to send a thank you letter and a token of his appreciation. I was very impressed and grateful. Check out the purchase below:

👆As you can see the black velvet pouch that was included. It came from the actual pawn shop! It fits the NGC slab perfectly.

I looked a few of these up on EBay and saw the average resale price around $75-$100. I could see these coins being a unique niche collectible in the years to come. Grab them while you can.!

Here is a photo of 'The Old Man' himself.

I find it important to highlight collectible silver. There are so many unique pieces in limited mintage runs. It's nearly impossible for one person to keep up with them all. That is why I share this information!

I used to watch that show — the old man was hilarious!

Loved the show, but it was very fake and staged. I have great respect for anyone that grinds it out in business, since i myself do it as well. Thanks for the share and nice round.

Yes it is staged. The family themselves are fun to watch. Nevermind the unique items that are shown. Got to keep grinding!!

They are known in Europe as well. Same as Dr. Pol and the guys mining in Alaska. Good post!

I didn't know they were popular out there! Interesting. Thanks for the info!

I've heard of the show and seen a few episodes, but hadn't followed it closely enough to know they made their own rounds. That's cool you were able to get one of them!

There are a few other varities of silver coins they produced. This particular one is the most popular and original. Thanks @themanwithnoname
