Cleveland Indians Go Yard on the Reds

As Indians fans are becoming accustomed to seeing, Cleveland managed to not get swept, once again. They lost the first two games to the third worst team in the NL, the Reds. And, even worse, coming into the game the Indians were on a four game losing streak. Cleveland is also sitting atop of the AL Central with a 50-41 record, and they hold a very large lead above the second place Twins.

Cleveland ranks within the top 10 in the league in each of the following statistics: Batting Avg., OBP, Slugging %, Runs, and Homeruns. Meanwhile, the Reds put another series under their belt. They are 41-52 in the NL Central, and they are trailing the Brewers by 14 games. Cincy is ranked second in OBP, fifth in Batting Avg., and 8th in runs. They will begin their next series on Friday in St. Louis. Cleveland will host the Yankees beginning today.

Carrasco pitched for 5 innings and won his 10th game of the season. He will aim to grab one more win before the All Star weekend starts. Carrasco gave up only 1 run on 5 hits and 1 walk. And, for the second consecutive game, Carrasco struck out 7 batters. Mahle was on the other end of the spectrum as he tallied his 7th loss of the year, coming to .500 with his record at 7. Through 2.1, he gave up 7 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks.

Aforementioned in the title, the Indians went yard on the Reds. Jose Ramirez blasted two multi-run homers, and this wasn’t the first time this season we have seen this incredible feat. Jason Kipnis and Lindor also drove in an aggregate of 5 runs on two homers. Naquin was the only Indian to get more than two hits, and he added three RBI’s to the Indians 19 runs. Gennet and Winker drove in 3/4 of the Reds runs kudos to long shots.
