Extremely short but relatively interesting - average lifespan during the course of history

I've found some old Newspapers printed in Montenegro in 1873 and developed some sort of addiction because there are so many interesting things to find. Let me quote you something about the lifespan:

In Genova, starting from 1560 there is a written record about the deaths. Back then, people lived 22 years and 6 months on average, while the average life span today is 40 years and 5 months.... ... in the XIV century, 1 of 16 inhabitants o Paris died every year, and now 1 of 32 people die in a year... ... in England, 1690, 1 in every 33 people died every year while now it's 1 in every 42.

Interesting indeed. The question is , how accurate could these statistics be back then?

I think it's solidly reliable because that news are some sort of "agency news" received from Trieste, Vienna, Paris etc... Even from America

My thinking was, if the sample to make a statistic back then was big enough so it can be reliable for such big cities or countries concerning the methods of the era.

Yeah but vaccines cause autism

I've got it too :(

Make that two 😭😭😭😭

Wow, fascinating what nuggets of info you can find from something as innocuous as an old newspaper.
