Venezuelans Urgently Needs Medication Access ¿How Can We Help?

in #steemstem5 years ago (edited)

The situation that Venezuelans are experiencing today is critical in several aspects, especially in the area of health, without having enough medicines and surgical supplies that are required for the Venezuelan population, generating lack of attention and hindering the access to medicines, which are scarce and those that are obtained, become more expensive with the inflation that increases daily. Added to this, the situation is aggravated by the lack of basic water services, lack of garbage collection and power outages in health centers, which has meant that patients can not be cared for or hospitalized, difficult to offer a quality service and unfortunately producing the death of patients.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) prepared a report that was presented on February 9 of this year, referring to the serious crisis that Venezuela presents "The population in Venezuela is suffering multiple violations of their rights humans. Many people are suffering from malnutrition, and the health situation has reached intolerable levels, especially for people suffering from chronic and terminal diseases, such as diabetes, kidney failure and cancer. " This call was made to the Venezuelan government and the international community, to know the realities and the suffering of the sick and the various protests that have occurred in the field of health (medical staff and patients), in order to reflect and denounce the hospital crisis they are facing.

Likewise, the Venezuelan Pharmaceutical Federation (Fefarven) through its president Freddy Ceballos "estimates that eight out of ten medications are not available in pharmacies due to the hyperinflation that affects the Venezuelan economy. It also points out that the shortage is 90% in the case of high-cost drugs for diseases such as cancer, HIV and hemophilia. In addition, during the past month of January there was an increase in the price of medicines between 1,000% and 3,000% ". (two)

Medicines Venezuela

The search for medicine in Venezuela has become a heroic task for many patients who suffer from chronic and not so chronic diseases, for all ages, children with cancer, women with breast cancer, who do not have access to chemotherapy, adults With Parkinson's, which are slowly deteriorating, among others, from pneumonia, infection of any kind, for lack of medication have died. "People with chronic health conditions dependent on public health have seen an almost complete interruption of access to medicine. 16,000 people are at imminent risk of death due to the closure of the dialysis units, "estimate from Codevida," 5,660 women with breast cancer diagnosed annually who do not have access to chemotherapy and that at least six die every day; 5,220 with hemophilia are deprived of coagulation factors for several years and 349 today run the risk of losing their lives. "

In Venezuela, the different human rights organizations, together with the health agencies, have urged the government and warned about the situation, however, they refuse to recognize the hospital and health crisis experienced by Venezuelans, and some countries have offered assistance such as Colombia, Canada and the United States, providing medical care in cities of the Venezuelan border, in order to donate the aid in strategic places, to those who have come looking for medical attention that they have not been able to find in their country.

In the political context, deputies have raised their voices about this situation, such as the case of the deputy to the National Assembly for the state of Miranda and leader of Voluntad Popular, Manuela Bolívar, from the Ernesto Regener Hospital in Río Chico, "Today in Venezuela there is no medicines are produced; Therefore, we reaffirm that the complex humanitarian emergency in the country is not solved with this regime but, on the contrary, it deepens even more the dependence, the desperation and the death when not giving alternatives ".

There are so many stories and denunciations of the sufferings that Venezuelans face today, leading them to leave their homeland, which has generated the diaspora of this population in different countries of the world. "It is one of the largest mass migrations in American history. The figure for this exodus is estimated at 1.6, 2.3 and up to 3.8 million displaced by political repression and the economic crisis in the continent's main oil exporter. "(3)

Migration has not stopped, it is still seen as an option in the face of the crisis that is becoming more and more acute, in groups, alone, whole families, longing for a better future and the possibility of satisfying the basic needs inherent to the human being. President Nicolás Maduro decreed in recent days a new increase in the wage rate, with the same economic scheme that is being implemented, which envisages more shortages in the different areas and therefore more shortages in drug supplies. Those who decide to emigrate, see it as a hope, a solution to what they are living, because in their country, they see no way out and many times they are migrations without planning, desperate in the face of the situation.

It is undeniable, the suffering that Venezuelans are currently suffering, adding the high levels of insecurity that have made Venezuela one of the most dangerous countries in the world, according to the studies of the Venezuelan Observatory of Violence "The murders, extortions, robberies and other crimes have made Venezuela one of the most dangerous countries in the world in recent years. Shortage of medicines in Venezuela

The picture looks bleak, that is why the initiative of Boxes of Hope Venezuela that with your help we are promoting the Amarse Foundation , in order to mitigate a little the pain of so many patients suffering from lack of medication. To carry out this initiative we need hearts that wish to alleviate and be part of the hope that we wish to transmit, for which we need to add benefits to achieve this end.
La consecución de la ayuda va a depender de las donaciones que se obtengan a través de medicamentos a nivel general debido a la necesidad que hay, instrumentos e insumos quirúrgicos, además de donaciones monetarias para poder enviarlos a Venezuela.

The Pope in his speeches has promoted solidarity as a way of hope, before this world that is so unassisted of love and the best way to fill the world with love, is through concrete actions that help the most disadvantaged, " The love of God and the love of neighbor are inseparable and complementary "Pope Francis. Hence, this initiative that takes us out of our own life situations and to look around and contribute what we can to make other people feel better, Mother Teresa of Calcutta is a living example of what we can achieve with the sum of wills and hearts, addressed to the most unassisted that cry out from their situation a look of love, under the premise "Sometimes we feel that what we do is just a drop in the sea, but the sea would be less if it lacked a drop". God bless you!!! With this initiative we want to contribute so that this drop is not lacking, we invite you to join each one to make that drop, which will be a sea of hope for so many people who need and can help.

It's unfortunate that in the midst of the era whereby medicine is able to optimise the quality of health for people of certain diseases (HIV, cancer etc.) some of us were neglected. Everyone should have the right to a proper medical treatment and everyone deserve to enjoy whatever life would be able to provide us.

@n4zrizulkafli you are totally right on it!! We at @amarsefoundation think the same, it is for this that we are trying our best to offer medicines for people in Venezuela thorught our program Boxes of Hope.
