One year in space

in #steemstem6 years ago (edited)

We are thinking about distant interstellar travel, sometimes man was created on Earth and created to resist the force of gravity. So how will our body behave, deprived of it for a long time? Not to mention the harmful effects of cosmic radiation.

American astronaut Scott Kelly set a new space-time record. The 340 days he spent in orbit - enormously destroyed his body. Scott has a twin brother. Together, they made their flying career, and later they both flew into space. They have similar bodies, which allowed them to compare the record holder with their brother, who spent half a year in space. It turned out that after Scott's return to Earth, his DNA differed somewhat from the genetic code of his twin brother. The record holder recently wrote a book titled "Endurance", in which he describes his experiences and health problems after his return. The astronaut during his stay in space adopted a radiation dose of 10 chest x-rays. It may raise the risk of cancer. However, his bone structure and muscles, which largely disappeared, suffered the most. Interestingly, Scott Kelly turned out to be higher by 5 centimeters than before departure! Did the lack of gravity lead to such a extension of its skeleton? This is an interesting issue. Now on Earth, gravity is a huge force for him, with which he is fighting a painful fight every day.

Kelly knew about the risk of a long orbital stay, even shorter stays were good. Now, unfortunately, he comes to pay dearly for the record year spent in space. Finally, he quotes one of the excerpts from his book:

"Everything hurts, all my joints and muscles are protesting against being in the gravitational field of gravity, I have dizziness, though I can't vomit. I undress and enter the bed, relish the touch of bedding, the feeling of covering my blanket and the place my head is dug in the pillow."

Greetings to lovers of Astronomy!
