Talking about 2d materials, 2 dimensional materials are substances that has thickness but of very few nanometres or even less to that. We put the definition in plane form, we say it has length weight but no thickness( primarily the thickness there is negligible). Again electrons found in this materials do move freely also in two dimensional plane, but what do you think happens to their motion? Yes there exist movements in two dimension but the third is restricted and is governed by quantum mechanics. [Read more](nature.com/subjects/two a dimensional image rials) .

As we all know quantum mechanics discusses on nature on a small scale with respect to energy levels of atom and subatomic particles and also deals with the mathematical description of motion.

53 years old theory verified by scientist. Talking about theory on ferroelectric materials and this could be a new era in production of multifunctional devices. Ferry electricity theory is a quantum mechanical ab inito theory, electrons emission produces cheap high power devices and I mean microwave devices and miniature x-ray, also exist as a neutron source.

If we go back to 1965 and with respect to philip anderson stated theoretically that ferroelectric metals despite its nonexistence can conduct electricity.

Base on visual impossibilities scientists felt its impossible to prove anderson's theory. On their quote.,

This is like trying to blend fire and water

A new age, a new dawn era, we are now in the existence of non existence, naturalizing the non nature. As Jack Chakhalian "A professor of experimental physics" succeded ,he shouted "it's exciting" ,

we created a new class of two-dimensional artificial materials with ferroelectric- like properties at room temperature that don't exist in nature yet can conduct electricity. It's an important link between the theory and an experiment.
Note the uses of ferroelectric materials existed in electronics like computer storage, sonar equipment, cell phones, medical equipment, and antennas, and so on and so forth.

What are the advantages of using ferroelectric materials in technology?

This is because they have that ability to move, shrink and expand when there is a passage of electric current through them. Like they are electrical elastic in nature having the ability to expand and compress by sensing electricity. And when this happen one can have the favour to move things with clear precision, things will be finely and smoothly done, those very sensitive things will be well handled, and compressibility and seamlessness will be achieved.

What shows that a material is fully electric?

If one can successfully shift the atom of a material permanently then we can have a ferroelectric material.
As Chakhalian stated
So we took two very thin layers to create a two-dimensional metal at the interface and added a third layer with special properties to shift the atoms in that metallic layer, creating a ferroelectric-like metal. The new structure has several functionalities built-in, and this is a big win-win.

This is a breakthrough in the world of science and technology, having a 2d material conducting electricity at non-existence of them , thats cool. Soon we will start seeing technology in a new level, of a new age. This will aids powerfully in seamlessness of devices. This will help in having a very plat battery in phones. In general this finding will create a new generation of application and devices.

Gimme a break! Conduction in non existent material! Wow to science yet again!

Its really a breakthrough. With ferroelectric, we will soon having a new age of most flat end designs and so on
