Artificial Intelligence And Is It Threat To Human Existence?
The threat of AI to the human species has entered mainstream discussions lately due to recent advancements in machine learning algorithms.
Will the future come down to man versus machine, when machines become more intelligent than humans? Will an artificial intelligence robot be our friend or foe?
What is Artificial Intelligence?
Arrificial Intelligence is the development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages. With the tremendous advancements in computer hardware and surplus availability of big data, artificial intelligence is rapidly finding its way into our everyday lives from the world of science fiction. Artificial intelligence is arguably the most exciting field in robotics-a man-made machine with our intellectual abilities.
Is AI really a threat?
Human intelligence includes
• Ability to reason
• Ability to understand
• Ability to create
• Ability to learn from past experiences
Robots are nowhere near achieving this level of natural intelligence. Through sensory or human input, the AI machines collects data and facts about an environment. Then, it is compared with the data and information that is stored in computer database to detect or find out what the information represents or signifies. Then the best possible action that simplies or brings out optimal cost, time and memory is choosen after running through all possible actions or search techniques. Based on fed data, facts, and programmes the computer cannot solve problems that have not been programmed. It can't have any technique or procedure for generalizing analytical problems.
Machines don’t have understanding like humans or even animals. They don’t recognize strategical patterns. Present Roberts have ability to learn in a limited capacity. The real challenge there is how natural intelligence works. Developing artificial intelligence is not like developing artificial toys, artificial heart- we need a simple and concrete model to work from. AI can be a threat to a human “Intelligence” but not “Humanity”. Humans rely on technology for far too much. I'm guilty of this myself. We ask Google everything. We require our phones to be a resource of endless information. Now is the age that Humans need AI to survive.
Without emotions, AI won't feel any threat of going extinct. It won't have that worry. It won't care. Even if it somehow did, how can we presume the most intelligent entity would ever be threatened by humans? It would outthink every move we could imagine, in a fraction of a fraction it would take us to imagine it. To say humans would be a threat to the ultimate AI, would greatly reduce the capabilities of ultimate AI. If AI is fully utilized, controlled for other purposes rather than developing weapons, then there is no way that AI can be threat to human existence.
We should not fear the AI that we have today. In fact, we should embrace it and use it's amazing applications to improve our daily lives. We should also not fear it's development because it might one day help us to solve big world problems like global warming!
Imagine the AI helping us to make technology behind our wildest dreams! It will help us understand the world outside even more! But we need some kind of kill switch (or maybe other AI) to keep the ones we use in check. We could deactivate or delete them in a event where they go rough.

Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg also criticized Musk’s comments, calling them “pretty irresponsible,” in a Facebook Live broadcast. Zuckerberg believes AI will ultimately improve our lives. Musk shot back later that Zuckerberg had a “limited understanding” of AI.
