RE: Fossil Hunting in Florida's Bone Valley Formation

Chances are, the gator had already retreated into deeper water in the opposite direction because they are more scared of us than we are of them.

I never knew that alligators are more scared of humans. So why do they attack humans?

Sort:

Alligator attacks involving humans almost always result from the gator being fed and losing it's fear of humans, or the people attacked were exhibiting prey behavior (splashing around, etc). Unprovoked attacks are extremely rare. Another bad idea is being anywhere near their nest or babies - mother gators are very aggressive in defending the territory around the nest.

Lol. Sounds like every other mother :D

Agreed. When you see baby gators, just leave the area right away and don't linger around. Maybe snap a quick photo or two, but if the babies start making noise, momma will be coming very soon and she has no sense of humor. LOL.

Huh? Gators without sense of humor? Sounds fair enough for a momma gator... Lol
