Goodbye Uber should you invest in Tesla? Think RoboTaxis - future is almost here.
Technology is changing fast. Tesla wants to build fully self driving computers that are approved (in some areas) for 100% self driving by end of 2020!!!
This post reviews this video (from April 23, 2019) and covers some of the highlights of this 2 hours and 35 mins long video. If you are a nerd and want to see the "state of the art", this is a good place to look.. I will watch and digest this so you do not have to (but you should).
Yesterday I posted a link to a long long video of Tesla and Elon Musk. Today I am getting into some of the details.
To me the highlights are:
If you buy a telsa, you can "rent" your self driving car out when you are not using it. Thus making a car you are not using create value.
Cost is about $38 k USD for the car. 1/3 of the week you use it. the rest of the time Tesla can hire it out and you are making $$$. WOW!
Cars can run 1 Million Miles (battery pack existing only lasts 500,000 miles). New one will last for twice that.
Electric consumption is going to go down because they are building solar systems that can be installed on a wall in your home.

So what went wrong (my opinion only):
Engineer mentions that he watches all of the accidents when Elon Musk is trying to mention how there are "no accidents". around 1hr 50 min.
Robotaxi - $1 per mile? wow! Half the price of uber or lyft. Maybe look a bit more on the bottom line.
Vision (videos) only without lidar.
No more lease to buy option (only buy).
Tech is not perfect yet - some people have died from using the auto mode that is not yet ready??
Economics
So how much will this cost?
Screen shot from the the video. Seems like the Tesla option is the cheapest. "Customers are fronting us for the car" - Elon Musk. Watch out UBER! But wait and see.
Conclusion
Seem very very exciting! Worth watching, feels like they just got up and decided to release a bunch of cool stuff they are working on. Tesla is looking very exciting for the future. I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did learning about what is in store for us in the very near future (fears aside).
Note: I do not own a tesla but I think they are changing the world... vote - BUY! I am excited, are you?
