SteemTrail update Feb 19, 2018
Discussion about possible changes to the SteemTrail Discord channels are ongoing, but some basic changes will be made as early as tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb 20.
Permissions will be restricted in most channels, so that the vast quantity of spam will be avoided. Those who persist in posting bare html links will be warned then blocked.
Apparently there is a belief going around that SteemTrail is an upvote bot. This is absolutely not the case. Real human beings read your post and make a decision to recommend it for a Streemain vote. At that point, once it is out of Steemtrail and in Streemian, a bot or script does the work of upvoting using the real people votes of Streemian members.
You cannot buy or pressure that vote. Different people actually do the voting and they are a separate layer of anonymous human interaction that prevents such abuse.
The point of SteemTrail is to curate posts by applying the Streemian vote to the best posts we can find. This does not mean anyone deserves or can claim a vote which is not freely given. Our curators have their own lives and can't spend all their time reading. I actually crashed and burned last year by trying to do over 100 posts a day, I ended up not writing any posts and not attending to my personal health issues. It was a bad thing, but I still believe it was a good cause.
So if you want the curator's vote, you still have to do it the old fashioned way. Write good posts on a consistent basis, engage with people on the platform and build an audience. Attempting to get the vote by spamming a SteemTrail channel will have the opposite effect.
Hopefully this will become a good experience for our curators. If not then it needs to die a violent death. If a curator on SteemTrail doesn't end the day knowing that they found a great post, encouraged others to read it, and helped the author by promoting and upvoting their original work, then I have failed at what I am trying to do.

Oh I just discovered this now. I'm not sure which acct to follow though? Trail or steemtrail? Or just you?
How does one get curated by the group? Does it have the same 24hr time limit like another curator group?
If you want to support, for instance, Fiction, then follow the Fiction Trail account and upvote the authors I review. If you just want to support Fiction Trail in general, then follow Fiction-Trail on Streemian.
Unfortunately most of the trails are inactive because of neglect. I know several trails are still running but I haven't identified all of them yet. But how I find posts to curate is by reading back through the "New" category on Steemit. And I will curate anything within 7 days although I prefer posts that are within 5 days, giving others a chance to vote on them. That's why I try to do two reviews a week. .
Awww. just fiction trail... I was looking for an art trail or a philosophy/metaphysics trail or maybe tv/show trail but I guess if a lot has been inactive, maybe I'll wait until there is an active one. Or do let me know if you find one. Thanks!
Well, no, not just Fiction Trail (and Paleo and Yoga trails). I know that @crypto-trail and @gaming-stuff-trail are active, and several others. Art Trail might be active, but I haven't gotten a response yet. @krnl is on Philosophy trail but I haven't seen any curation yet.

We each have different friends and family to know and share experiences. Different from different traditions. always looking from eye to eye. About what we do not see for an opportunity.
