STEMng Digest: Week 37

in #stemng6 years ago

Welcome to another episode of stemng weekly digest. The first digest after the HF20. This is going to be the 37th episode of the series. A weekly post where we bring to you some of the best articles written by stemng authors in the past week.

As a background information, stemng is a sub-community of steemSTEM, a community-driven project which seeks to promote well-written and informative Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics posts by Nigerians on Steemit. The project involves submitting quality STEM-related posts to the steemSTEM management for upvoting and resteeming where applicable.

More information about stemng activities are found here, while details of what it means to be part of steemSTEM can be found here, as well.

As we usually do, we have sifted through the stemng tag and even though there were several good posts to choose from, below are the posts that stood out since after the HF20 which constitute our week #37.

1: clearing-off in Maternal Measles Immunoglobulin G

Just like the last, this post from @teemike kicks off our stemng post HF20 series. The author discussed in details his recent research on Maternal Measles Antibody (MMA) in Nigeria. This is worth a read for every stem enthusiast.

2: WIRELESS INGESTIBLE" BACTERIA ON A CHIP":the need over esophageal varices and peptic ulcer(modern technology)

An interesting write up about a new technology by @hillaryisidore. According to the article, wireless ingestible bacteria on a chip was designed to detect aetiological activities in the human body and send signals to a screen enabled transducer. Head over for the complete gist.

3: FREE RADICAL: A Deadly Chemical Compound We Need To Combat In Our Body

Hardly would ageing be discussed without mentioning free radicals. @misterufem discussed the day to day human activities that generates free radicals in the body and how these free radicals can be combated.

4: Optics #3: The Dual Nature of Light; The Corpuscular Theory

This article by @ikchris is the third in a series where he has been discussing the dual nature of light. In this particular write-uo, the author discussed the corpuscular theory. What is it and how does it relate to light? Head over and give it a good read.

5 : Would The Touch-Sensitive Prosthetics Be The Future Of Bionic Augmentation?

Prosthetic technology without any doubt has been a major breakthrough in the medical world and gives those that lose limbs to accident hope. In this article by @samminator, the prospects of touch-sensitive prosthetics as a future of bionic augmentation was discussed. A good read.

6: Understanding Why A Mom Would Risk Her Life In Order To Protect Her Offspring

It is a truism that most (not all) mothers are more likely to risk their lives just to protect their children in the face of dangers. @olamseu discussed the science underlining such selfless love. As interesting as an article can be.
