Music To His Ears
"A word in season, how good it is!."
- Proverbs 15:23 -
Have you ever had a great teacher?
While perhaps not indispensible, in some cases the difference between your success and failure may be a teacher with the God-given ability to draw the best out of you.
Jayna has changed things up.
The prompt is "grace," and the Short Story Contest allows for a 100-word story this week.

Music To His Ears
by Duncan Cary Palmer
Victor's frustration was palpable.
His piano jury was tomorrow morning, and he wasn't ready.
Doctor Payne had coached him for weeks. Victor practiced relentlessly, but Bartok's "Three Etudes op. 18" was challenging. He doubted his ability to interpret the variations.
In fitful dreams, Victor was being chased along a giant keyboard, vaulting the black keys.
The next morning, as he nervously reached for the doorknob of his apartment, Victor noticed an envelope in the mail slot.
"Good morning, Victor!" began the handwritten note. "You'll do fine."
Thank God for a piano professor thoughtful enough to leave him a grace note!

I love it! Yes you got to love those grace notes. I remember playing Bartok and going up on my sophomore evaluation, junior and senior recitals. I wish I would have received a grace note LOL. Made it through though. Great story. Thanks @creatr.
Thank you, Troy...
Glad you liked it! :)
Really nice story, @creatr! And very heart-warming.
Thank you, Jayna... :)
