In a village called Tarub lived a widow. Mbok Randa Tarub name. He has an adopted son, a boy who later in life after growing up is often called Jaka Tarub.

Jaka Tarub is a diligent and devoted child to his adoptive mother. He cultivated the land in the fields and fields of his adopted mother. On the sidelines of his time used to search for firewood in the forest. Sometimes he hunts using his chopsticks. Jaka Tarub is well known for playing his chopsticks, rarely misses if he crosses. His face is also handsome to make the girls really want to be edited. However, Jaka Tarub does not seem interested in marriage. Mbok Randa Tarub always reminds him, "Jaka my son, before your mother is of age, I want to see you married."

However, until Mbok Randa Tarub died of illness, Jaka Tarub has not been married.

After his adoptive mother, Jaka Tarub spent most of his time dreamily. He felt very sad abandoned the old woman who has acknowledged as the birth mother. One day Jaka Tarub sleeps and dreams. In his dream he ate the venison. Very tasty. Instantly he woke up, Jaka Tarub rushed to the forest while carrying his chopsticks. She wanted to eat the venison the way she felt in her dreams.

Surprisingly for him, Jaka Tarub did not find a game. He did not see a deer. Even until Jaka Tarub headed for a part of the forest that has never been explored, still not found a deer in that place. Jaka Tarub gets tired. Sit down later on a rock on the edge of the lake. The state of quiet and coupled with the fatigue he felt made Jaka Tarub sleepy. Not long after he had fallen asleep.

Just a few moments Jaka Tarub fell asleep, his ears heard a surprising voice for him. The voices of the joking women. Jaka Tarub was amazed to hear the voices. Why are there women in the forest? Who are they? Or do not be, they are the ghosts of the forest watcher!

Jaka Tarub is curious. He also looked for the source of the voice. It was very striking Jaka Tarub when he found seven women bathing in the lake. Very beautiful face. Jaka Tarub wished to marry one of them. Immediately saw seven scarves located near the lake, Jaka Tarub immediately took one shawl. Immediately hid the scarf.

By the afternoon seven beautiful women were about to end their bath show. One of the women invited six other women to return immediately to Kahyangan. Understand Jaka Tarub if the seven women are the seven angels.

One of the angels, Nawang Wulan's name, did not find the shawl. The youngest angel tried hard to find his shawl, but still not found. Six of her brothers also searched. Still, Nawang Wulan's shawl is not found. Six of Nawang Wulan's older siblings finally leave Nawang Wulan alone. They flew to Kahyangan by using their own scarves.

After the death of six sisters, Nawang Wulan cried. He was very sad that he could not return to heaven. The human world is something very strange to him. He felt that it would be difficult to live in the human world, especially that no one he knew in the human world.

Jaka Tarub immediately approached and invited to meet. He proposed his willingness to help Nawang Wulan. Feeling no longer a figure that can be asked for help, Nawang Wulan also expressed his willingness when Jaka Tarub took him home to Jaka Tarub.

Some time later Jaka Tarub married Nawang Wulan. Both live happily. Jaka Tarub is no longer lazing around

because they feel they have a responsibility. Especially when his wife pregnant and then gave birth to a baby girl.

Jaka Tarub named his son Nawangsih. After marriage, Jaka Tarub actually wondered. The barn of her seemed to never diminish in its contents, but increased. The yesterday's harvest has not been exhausted, the next harvest has been obtained. In fact, every day his wife was cooking rice. So how did that happen? Jaka Tarub did not ask the question, but kept it in his heart only. Although, it makes his curiosity increasingly rising.

One day Nawang Wulan gave a message to Jaka Tarub, "Kakang, I'm cooking rice, please keep the fire, my plane, do not ever open the lid of this steamer Wait until I come home from the river"

After his wife, Jaka Tarub is very curious about his wife's ban. Jaka Tarub also violated his wife's message. He opened the lid of the steamer. How shocked Jaka Tarub when found a straw in the steamer. His wife is cooking rice only from a sprig of rice!

"No wonder the rice in my barn seemed endless and ever growing;" muttered Jaka Tarub. "Apparently my wife is planting a rice paddy to become a full steamed rice!"

When Nawang Wulan comes home from the river, he opens the lid of the steamer. He saw a straw of rice that was laid still a rice straw. Understand him if her husband has broken his message not to open the lid of the steamer. His supernatural powers were destroyed forever. He must act like a man on earth to cook rice. He had to pound rice, winnowing it, and finally to cook the rice into rice. Nawang Wulan was forced to work hard like other mothers. Thus, the stock of paddy in her husband's barn continues to decrease. Until a time the rice in the barn stayed a little until the base of the barn was visible. That's when Nawang Wulan found the shawl!

Nawang Wulan is very sad and furious, her husband was the one who hid the shawl. She felt that her husband had indeed planned to stay on earth and then marry her. Nawang Wulan immediately put on her shawl and flew to meet her husband. He said, "Kakang, I will go back to heaven, Take care and take good care of Nawangsih Make a lagoon around your house and place Nawangsih on every night, I will come to feed him My message, do not ever peek or come closer ! "

Jaka Tarub could not prevent his wife's departure after his mask was uncovered. He was forced to register his wife's message.

Nawang Wulan then fly to the sky after kissing Nawangsih.

Jaka Tarub then made a loom around his house. According to his wife's message, every night he puts the Nawangsih inside the loom. He felt very sorry for ever violating his wife's message, so now he hold firmly his wife's message. At all he did not dare to peek or come near the loom when his wife was nursing Nawangsih, their baby.

Moral message from the example of the legend's folklore from central Java: Jaka Tarub's story is a lie or lie, though closed tightly. It will eventually open. closing lies or lies is like storing a dead carcass, the stench is sure to smell even if it has been closed closed.
