Continuation of the Fishing Festival

In case you missed the first part here's the link

Dinof has begun to despair; and this was affecting his preparation for the fishing festival. After he has considered the matter carefully, it occured to him that Nini might be waiting for him to desmonstrate a little more chivalry to finally win her heart.

"Winning this great fishing festival might just do the trick," Dinof told himself as he soared high and then shot into the sea to snag a fish which he had spied earlier.

Dinof said to himself,
"if winning the competition will enable me win Nini's hand in marriage, i had better give it my best shot."
from that day, Dinof started preparing for the fish competition earnestly. Every day Dinof will go out to the bank of the river soaring spying, diving and snagging.
All the while he was spurred on because of his great love for beautiful Nini.

The day of the fishing festival finally dawned and the birds and other animals turned out decked in their best finery. Other animals had been invited to watch the great event.
The festival started with a lot of thrilling side displays. some birds took part in the swimming , boating and singing competitions.

There were also a lot of eating and dancing.

At least it was time for the highlight of the festival. It was time to find out who is the best fisher of all time. All eyes looked as Showof and Dinof first started with their aerial displays. The two competitors soared into sky and showed different acrobatic displays.
As soon as the gong went off they swooped into the river to catch fishes, which they deposited at the feet of designated umpires.
For Dinof and Showof, it was soar, sight, swoop, catch and drop. All the animals were "oohing" and "aahing" as the two birds soared, sighted, swooped, caught and dropped their preys. It was getting to the competition. The heaps of fishes were piling.

Dinof noted that while he had been spying and snagging the little fishes for speed and fludity, his opponent the eagle was busy looking for large fishes before making his moves. As usual, he was busy showing off!

For a moment , Dinof wondered whether the eagle remembered that rule of the game for the birds was quite different from that from humans.
For humans, the winner of a fishing festival was the one that snagged the largest fish. But for birds, the determining factor was the number of fishes each contestant was able to catch. Dinof wondered briefly whether the should remind the eagle about this rule.
"But no," he told himself immediately. "This is a competition. you use all the advantages you have. It is not my fault that the eagle has a penchant for showing off and it has made him to forget the rules of the game.
"Moreover, this is one competition i am determined to win. It just might win me the love of beautiful Nini."
Dinof thereafter focused on catching as many fishes as he could. He carefully selected only small fishes so as to increase his speed and chances of winning the great fishing competition.

Suddenly the gong went off signalling the end of the competition. Without bothering to check, Dinof knew he had won the game. He had won the fishing competition by a very wide margin!
All the birds and other animals started to applaud Dinof with shouts of, "Kingfisher,Kingfisher." Dinof knew from that day on, no one will ever call him or any of his kin by their given name. All the animals will now address them as Kingfishers.
The new kingfisher flapped his wings with great satisfaction. He was very happy about his new name but something important was missing. He had searched the crowd for Nini but she was nowhere to be found.

Then he noticed there was a bird hanging in the air a little distance from others. It was a beautiful Nini. She looked so soft and fragile.
As soon as he caught her eyes, she started drifting towards him. The sky was dazzling blue with white patches here and there.

Nini stopped a few feet from Kingfisher and looked down shyly.
Kingfisher asked softly, "Nini, will you marry me?

Nini looked up shyly, her eyes dancing with mischief; telling Kingfisher that he was her hero. Kingfisher was so overwhelmed with love for the lovely vision before him. He drifted close to her and touched her beak with his own

THE END!!
