After cricket retirement he started his political party. His party won 2018 election with great margins in pakistan. He started his political party in 1996.
Mr Khan struggled for years to turn popular support into electoral gains. He launched his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in 1996 but he was the only candidate in the party to win a seat in 2002. The PTI boycotted the 2008 vote.
It took until the last general election in 2013 for his party becoming the second largest party nationally.In election 2018 Mr Khan's PTI party dominated the election, winning 116 of the 272 seats up for grabs and trouncing the PML-N.
