I remember the original story. It's good to see others outside of steemit (and Steem) circulating it.
People sleep on Steem in my opinion. To me, it seems really simple to get into as a currency.
In order to accept Steem, all a business has to do is create an account. They won't have to register on an exchange, they won't have to purchase bitcoin or litecoin, or anything else. Once an account is created, all they have to do is advertise their merchandise right on the chain.
Of course, if they want to turn it into fiat, they'll probably have to sign up at an exchange, but who knows what options will become available to circumvent that requirement, in the future. I even seem to remember you (@creatr) offering cash for Steem at one time...or maybe it was the other way around. In any case a business might want to power up, at least in the beginning.
I'm still waiting for more businesses to get on board.

Yes, Steem is a tool that is here, now, ready and raring to go. We need to be using it on a regular basis.
And yes, it would be great to have more options for converting between Steem and fiat. The banker/government cartel is doing all within its power to prevent that, but I still have high hopes of seeing it happen. And yes, I have exchanged Steem for fiat in the past on a one-to-one personal basis.
Others have been trying to promote the day-to-day use of Steem; for example, @matthewdavid.
