Gread of Abdulla Part-3

in #story6 years ago

He has greatly fatigued after all this hard work. No more treasure could be loaded on the camels. Finally, the Dervish came out. Abdullah too walked after him gazing at the vast treasure that he was leaving behind. Having stepped out of the opening, the Dervish chanted something waving his hand, and instantly, the opening disappearing. Now, there was only a rock before them.
The Dervish and Abdullah divided the camels forty each and started to walk their ways, the former to Basra and the latter to Baghdad.
Abdullah had hardly gone any distance that greed sprang up in his heart. He said to himself, “Why should a Dervish need so much of wealth? It would only trouble him.” So, he turned and went after the Dervish and said, “O kind Dervish, it is not your nature to be with so much of wealth. Safeguarding the wealth would only mean your attention getting diverted from prayers to earthly matters. Better if you part with some camels.”
The Dervish said, “I warned you not to be greedy; any how, you can take ten of my camels.”
Abdullah one again turned towards Baghdad when another thought struck him, If the Dervish can relinquish the camels so easily, he can part with more. So, he once again approached the Dervish and pleaded, “Thirty or forty camels make the same thing. Give me some more camels.”

The Dervish gave him ten more of his camels. It only enhanced the greed of Abdullah. Instantly he demanded more, and he got ten more camels. It was at this time that he said, “O great Dervish, you are the greatest of all Dervishes. No other can be as great as you are. It is in our own well being that you part with tha remaining the camels too, as they would hinder our progress in the spiritual world.”
The Dervish said, “Well said, i think this wealth would trouble me greatly. You can take of these camels so that I can meditate peacefully and dance joyfully till my meeting with the great God.”

They parted ways once again, but it was at this moment that Abdullah remembered that the Dervish had picked up a small golden box. His greed raised its ugly head once again. He said to himself. “I can see some evil design on the part of the Dervish. He has parted with the treasure without any protest. That means that the little box is worth far more than all these eighty camels put together. I must demand it from him, after all a Dervish doesn’t need this type of treasure.”
He approached the Dervish once again and said what he wanted to. The Dervish said in a broad smile on his face, “You can have it too, but i will do nothing but harm yoh. I warned not to be greedy. You should feel contented with the precious treasure that you now me.”
