Tale of the Haunted Treasure (Part 2)

The rain came down like a crying child from above. Drowning the place with fear and melancholy. Our hero was trapped, no place to go, haunted by footsteps and noises that could make a grown man shiver in fear. Instead of being afraid bearkid thought of happy places to keep her mind off her current dilemma. Thinking about sunshine, flowers, strawberries, muffins and doughnuts. Bearkid drew strength from within like a Bright Star of Hope shining inside her. Our hero looked for a place where she could rest and began to think about the riddle again.

" After the tears the cloud appears and when all is clear. Happiness is near." " What could it mean?"

With the rain that keeps on falling, bearkid realized something.

" The rain! The rain could be the tears that the riddle is talking about."
" It said after the rain, so I just need to wait for the rain to stop." "I hope it stops soon."

She stayed quiet and waited patiently.

She waited...................and waited.

Waited..................

Waited.......

After almost an hour the rain slowly weakened and seems the crying of the child from above has been pacified.

The crying child from above has stopped and the final tear has been shed.

"Finally the rain has stopped and I thought it would never end."
"I could now go outside and explore the third floor."
"Now I need to look for the cloud that could lead me to the treasure."
"Is it the clouds from above?"

Bearkid explored the rooftop trying to search for more clues. A vast forest covers the back of the hotel a place which you would not want to venture.

"What an eerie forest and seems like the trees are alive."

She hears a sound from within the forest, heavy breathing like a panting wolf.

"That sound of breathing is like a wolf but why does it sound so near?"
"There is no way I am getting in that forest and the treasure is not there." "Maybe they are wolves just guarding this place."

Bearkid stood there for a couple of minutes just staring thru the forest and listening to the sounds coming from the distance. Suddenly she feels something from her leg.

"My leg is itchy. Let me just give it a good scratch and explore some more."

She lifted her leg and scratched until the itch was gone.

"I scratched my leg like a wolf and it was a good scratch."
"Now time to think about the riddle again."
" It said something about a cloud but there is no cloud up in the sky right now."

She explored every corner of the rooftop hoping to solve the riddle and found a cross broken by time. She looks at it intently and slowly approached it.

"It is very old and broken thru time but it symbolizes hope for those who believe."
"It gives me peace in this scary place."

She investigates further.

A sign hangs on the cross with read, "Forbidden to stand or climb up here."

"A warning on the cross. Who might have put it up there?" Why was it put up there?"

Questions begin to ponder her head. She moves on and finds up her way to the fourth floor which is the highest point of the hotel.

Looking at the distance she notices a cloud headed her way. Could this be the cloud she is looking for?

" Something is coming to my direction." "Everything around it is being swallowed away by this fog."

Seconds later the fog reached the hotel and covering everything in a white enchantment.

Anxiety begins to descend on bearkid as it covers the whole place. With worries on her mind that something from the fog would come out and snatch her to take her away.

"Everything is now covered with fog and I cannot see anything."

Suddenly the sounds of breathing and panting were closely heard from the rooftop. Coming from all direction which panicked our brearkid.

"I must escape from here and go down to the second floor."
"They are here all around me!"
"What to do? What to do?

Blindly she wondered around, stumbling and scared. She heard the sounds coming from behind her and sounding like almost reaching out for her. She crawled on the floor blindly and kept on going. She felt something brushing her leg and it is not an itch that she felt earlier.

She crawled faster and moved closer to the walls. Feeling her way to the entrance that would lead down back to the second floor. She felt the entrance and immediately pulled herself in. Not looking back she descended the stairs.

She found her way to the second floor with heartbeat still racing. She felt she was still not safe.

"I need to get out of here and just forget about the treasure."

While on her way down to the first floor. Silence surrounded her and she looks outside the window.

"The fog is gone. How could that be?"
"Maybe that is the cloud that is being said in the riddle."
"The cloud appears and when all is clear. Happiness is near."
" I am almost there. I know I can still find it but is it worth it."

She looks down to the first floor thinking if she would still pursue her quest.

"I have already encountered a lot of strange things. I would just head my way back home."
"I think I have had enough adventure for one day."

Finding her way down she ends back to the place where she started. She sits for awhile and takes a rest before taking her long journey back home. She hears a sound coming from the locked stairway. Like someone crawling on the way down.

She approaches the stairs and finds no one there.

"Could it be up there in this locked stairway?"
"No way I am coming up there anymore and this bear is going home."

She sees a light coming from the window.

"The sun is shining outside the fog is gone and I think I may have found the treasure."
"Happiness is near! Happiness is near", bearkid exclaimed.

Excitedly he runs outside and finds her way to the place where the sun is shining.

Her feet takes her to this garden with yellow golden flowers like a field gleaming with gold.

Is this the treasure that is being told in legend.

Could this be true happiness?

She takes a moment and begins to wonder. Was it all for nothing? Was it just a myth?

She stares at the old hotel and looks around. She felt safe and a warm feeling began to overcome her.

She felt happiness and began to understand the true meaning behind the riddle.

"After the tears the cloud appears and when all is clear. Happiness is near."
"I know what it means!"
"It is true the true treasure and I have found it."
"After tears or fear from inside the scary place. A cloud appears which is confusion from the rooftop. I was scared , sad and confused. When everything has cleared light appeared. If we just open our eyes there is beauty in life around us and not just material things."
"In life it is sometimes hard and we think that the rain would never end. We get confused what went wrong and you may feel that everyone has abandoned you or is pulling you down. But in life there is always light at the end we sometimes fail to see that happiness is just around us."
"It maybe the people that we love, our faith or our passions in life where we could find true happiness."

Leaving the hotel she found something special which is more than a field of gold.

It would have been great if she found a real treasure but our little bear adventurer found something else that she did not expect. The treasure of lessons in life and despite the scary things out there, there is still a lot of beauty in our world.
