| This is a small pond in the Alexander Park in St. Petersburg. The park is on the Petrograd side. Once upon a time there was a glacis - a shallow earthen mound in front of the outer moat of the Peter and Paul Fortress. But gradually the military importance became irrelevant. The first to think about the park in this place was the Emperor Alexander I. But he did not manage to start the arrangement. The park was created under Nicholas I under the guidance of the Minister of Finance Kankrin. He often visited the mint in the Peter and Paul Fortress and he liked the idea of creating a park on the former glacis. | Это небольшой пруд в Александровском парке в Питере. Парк находится на Петроградской стороне. Когда-то на этом месте был гласис – пологая земляная насыпь перед наружным рвом Петропавловской крепости. Но постепенно военное значение стало не актуально. Первым о парке в этом месте задумался император Александр I. Но при нём не удалось начать обустройство. Парк был создан при Николае I под руководством министра финансов Канкрина. Тот часто бывал на монетном дворе в Петропавловской крепости и идея создать парк на бывшем гласисе ему очень понравилась. |
