Put yourself in irreversible situations

in #studynotebook5 years ago

We like to think that having options is a good thing. And a lot of times, it is. But there’s also a flip side to this. Feeling like we have options will make us indecisive and complacent, whereas being forced into a situation where there is only one way out will make us energized and focused.

The human mind is not good at multitasking over a certain level. If you try to hold too much in your mind at once your mind will not be able to process everything and supply a good answer. You must focus your attention on a single battlefield.

In addition, having stakes on the line will force a sense of urgency upon you that will serve as motivation. You need to have as much skin in the game as possible in order to feel the pressure required to make you excel.

Welcome to my Study Notebook. Here I take different ideas from great authors and dissect them in order to improve my thinking and share some great curated knowledge with the world! If you took something away from this post, please consider buying the book that inspired it:
