Next on the human needs tree is the branch of food security. How does the rural dweller get access to necessary nutrients classification for sustenance? Some rural dwellers already operate a farm but they could also benefit more from a greenhouse, a root cellar and various techniques of preserving produce.

The third item on the human needs list is water. How does the rural dweller get water and use water? What is the quality of the water derived? Rain is a good source of water supply in many reions in Nigeria and we want to help you catch, filter and store it well for safe use.

The next item for discussion is sewage treatment and organic waste care. Rural dweller in other parts of the world have a wide array of time-tested solution for waste and sewage management. Since water is often a scarce resource, it is advised that rural dwellers adopt waterless option to sewage and organic waste care(Composting Toilet). There are different brands but you can easily fabricate one for yourself.

Even if it is just to light a few bulbs at night, to read or to be able to extend house chore into the night, electricity is very important. Even without connection to the national electric grid, rural dwellers in Nigeria use cellphone to reach out to the outside world and access the internet. Mobile telephony facilitates trade and an off-grid energy solution will keep the phones charged. Alternative/Off-grid power options in villages may include solar, geothermal, bio-gas, wind, hydro, or a combination of these offerings.

Lastly, in the face of climate change, the human shelter needs to be prepared to service our need for warmth and cooling. Adverse climate conditions are upon us. It is snowing in places where there have never been snowflakes and extreme heat is becoming commonplace elsewhere. Rural dwellers are not immune to climate change. Hence, the need for sustainable ventilation - heating and cooling solution. Passive solar design can solve half of this issue. The other half can also be tackled by physics through thermodynamics, using cooling tubes.
