A bit later in this aeroclub the School of pilots was based. The local patron, not the little-known banker Artur Antar was an initiator of the base. Here trained in aircraft both civil, and military. The airfield, on same Strelbishchn, and was called "School". Each airplane was serviced by techniques of the Odessa Sea battalion, they afterwards became foremost aircraft mechanics in Odessa.

During the Soviet period the aircraft promptly developed, it was promoted by the country. Even the decision to create UAO of air traffics under the name "Ukrvozdukhoput", in March, 1923 was specially made. A year later, in the city also the air station was built.

Whether coincidence, whether was so necessary for god, the Kiev institute was entered by the entrant, then yet to nobody the famous guy Sergey Korolev. It was the same 1924, well clear business that the guy selected the direction of aircraft. Afterwards Korolev constructed the very first airplane then he became one of founders of world-class space-rocket branch in Odessa.

It is a little biography about the famous fellow countryman of Odessa, Sergey Korolev:
Sergey Korolev 12.01. 1907 (as before 31.12. 1906) native of Zhytomyr. Seryozha's father was a teacher, the family early broke up as parents divorced. After this event the boy was sent to Nezhin to the grandmother and the grandfather of his mother.

The boy in merchant family was brought up. In 1917 he moves with mother and the stepfather to Odessa. All school program I learned houses, and in 1922 - 1924, I got an education at construction school, later, in 1924-1926 I studied in polytechnical in Kiev. From 16 years of Queens already I gave lectures about aviation business.

In 1931 where now there is an airport, the first air terminal was constructed. Inhabitants of Odessa had an opportunity since then quickly and with comfort to fly to the different cities, such as: Dnipropetrovsk, Kryvyi Rih, Nikolaev, Kherson, Skadovsk, Kakhovka.

1935, the Odessa aviagroup began to transfer the base in the Zastava airport. Here the fifteenth transport aviagroup and the two hundred sixteenth aviation group of special application were placed.

In 1991 the USSR broke up and Ukraine became Independent. But the Odessa airport needed to pay tribute and since then, in March of the 26th, every year in the country the Birthday of the Ukrainian civil aviation is celebrated.
