Spiritual Sunday #7

Introduction

Lord, I love watching the conversation this reading conducts -- week after week. It reminds me of the old (OLD!!) serial radio programs. 15 minutes long. A cliff-hanger at the end. You couldn't wait for the next one.

I never thought I'd enjoy this reading project as much as I am, but wow, do I ever look forward to it. We're getting back into reversed card territory again -- which means something new is being built. The spiritual / intellectual / psychological break-through that was the highlight of last week, has been replaced by one of the ultimate symbols of integrity -- so ... let's get started.

This week's layout

This week's theme

The Divine Child = an established set of principles, beliefs and values. This can represent a set of semi-religious concepts, a number of "tried-and-true rules for living," or it may reflect a general philosophy of life that you've consolidated or expanded based on recent experiences or inner work.

Based on the accompanying cards it carries a connotation of "getting it together" -- on various levels, so that you have a better vision of who you are, what you're about, where you're going, how you plan to get there, etc. Interestingly, this card is associated with the Astrology sign Taurus -- the one the Sun and Mercury (essential being and mind) are passing through now.

There is a solidity to this card that suggests determination, purpose, intellectual confidence (and clarity -- something echoed in the 6 of Scrolls in the Intellectual Issue position -- a card that was reversed last week -- on Tuesday, indicating confusion, muddled thinking, etc. See how the Tarot talks to you -- just like another person -- after a while?)

So ... you have reached (or soon will) a position on firm ground ... solid enough to stand on and feel an welcome confidence in who you are, where you're heading, etc. The cohesion of this card and its energy seems to be what's coming through here.

(This card can also indicate things like ---> playing by the rules, doing what you're told, not rocking the boat, "knuckling under," going along to get along, fulfilling your assigned role in society, "going through the motions," keeping the peace, etc. I don't usually look at it with much respect. It seems so defiantly conventional -- and occasionally wussy. But tonight, even I have gained a new perspective on it -- and its possibilities. The learning continues. Right up to this moment.)

This week's personal issue

The Corsair Rx = constructing a new sense of yourself and your power; working on projects and initiatives "under cover," or behind the scenes ... in private; doing something that takes a lot of focus but which isn't ready for public display ... yet.

You may be getting used to a new sense of yourself, a new "version" of you that is either still in the making -- or has recently become available. It suggests considerable recent inner progress, but you're still taking it all in -- and working to make sense of it.

The "new you" may not be familiar to people who know you out in the real world -- and you're not sure you're ready to introduce him (or her) to them yet. You may not be totally sure how to work with him yourself.

This is in many ways like getting into a new vehicle ... and having to figure out what all the instruments on the dashboard are for, where the familiar ones are located, and what else this puppy can do. It takes a few test drives to put it all together. It can also show frustration trying to get things lined up or arranged to suit you. (It's always a kind of trial-and-error experience.)

For now, work with the privacy angle -- and respect it. If this energy comes out too soon -- or without adequate self-knowledge and control, it can appear belligerent, angry, temperamental ... and self-righteous. You don't want to sully your vision -- or the new version of you -- by turning people off because you were (immature) and cranky ... and out of sorts and impatient when they first got to know you. That would be awfully easy ATM. Tread lightly.

This week's emotional issue

8 of Mirrors Rx = This is one of (the few) cards in the Tarot which is better reversed than upright. (Upright it indicates boredom, burn-out, been-there-done-that, disinterest, I-hate-my-life, etc.) Reversed, it's getting a new lease on your creative energy. You feel inspired, excited, immersed in something that expands your values -- and invites you to do something worthwhile.

It suggests enjoying yourself -- maybe more than you have for a while, exploring new interests and options, "dabbling" or trying out different creative ideas, taking a "what's next" attitude and experimenting. You may be working privately on something you're really excited about, or you may still be feeling your way ... not settled for sure on anything solid yet. Whatever, don't push it. Just take your time. The "enjoy yourself" part of this message is what matters ATM.

This week's intellectual issue

6 of Scrolls = different ideas, alternative choices, adjusted perceptions, seeing the world with new eyes, experiencing a calmer attitude, a more focused mind, clarity

It's time to leave old thinking behind -- and step into the calm confidence of a different, better perspective. Release what's holding you back -- or keeping you unsettled and fretful. You may have to adopt the attitude of "the past is the past / that's history now" in order to engage with the future. The past in this case is the repository of old ideas, previous circumstances, a more limited set of perceptions.

Again, this is an energy that asks you to think differently -- and when you do, a lot of stuff that used to seem so important just falls by the wayside. When you become a different person, you think differently, made different choices, explore other options -- and vice versa.

This card did everything but jump and down, screaming, "Pick me!! Pick me!!" as I sorted through the stack tonight, wondering which to pick next. When I turned it over and saw what it was, I had to smile. It was reversed last week -- in the Tuesday reading -- so evidently there's been progress since then. It wanted to be sure it told me.

This week's practical issue

The Artiste Rx = a new level of creative enterprise and material support is being assembled, a need for self-care and inner work, time to be your own care-giver and BFF for a while

This card can also indicate recovering from illness, turning your material resources inward, replenishing your inner support, taking care of yourself for a change. It can also show you're "tapped out" ATM -- which is why you need this time of recuperation and TLC. You can't take care of yourself or anyone else if you're in a state of collapse.

It can also show you are intent on replenishing your own sources of supply and support, using assets you own to grow future assets into something more expansive -- and consequently more generous and charitable. This reversed card shows the reorganization of material resources at a significant level of development. You likely know what to do -- and you're good at it. The challenge may be figuring out how to do it ... and creating whatever that requires for you to advance.
