A REVIEW OF SURF BURGER

The name 'burger' or 'hamburger' was derived from Hamburg, one of Germany's largest cities, where many immigrants to the United States came from.

It was believed that Fletcher Davis of Athens, Texas invented the hamburger. And here in the Philippines, this famous sandwich was brought by the Americans even before World War II. And as they say, the rest is history!

Here in Bulacan, aside from the famous fastfood joints, there are many restaurants offering hamburgers in different varieties. And one of those places is SURF BURGER PH.

Entering SURF BURGER is like being transported to Baler, one of the most well-known surfing spots here in Northern Luzon. There were surfboards on the wall. I love that drum containers were converted into tables and chairs. A small stage was in the center. We were told that there were bands performing during weekends. The resto was a little musty and old but over-all this added a rustic vibe to the place.

BIG appetites deserve BIG servings. And when you are really really hungry, you have to have their Ultimate Burgers! Non-negotiable! I had Beer Cheese Bacon and Cheesy Mushroom. There were overload of toppings and sides. Truly a fulfillement of a burger lover's ultimate dream! And help yourself with generous servings of their home-made potato chips!

We also ordered their two pasta varieties Gab Gab & Tiktilaok. The first was beef and mushrooms in red sauce while the latter was Chicken Carbonara. Servings were huge and can feed two. Pasta was al dente and sauces were creamy and flavorful!

For refreshments we had Baler Sunrise and Surf On the Beach. And we will of course not pass on Desserts! Both the Choco Caramel Twist and Choco Brownie Fudge didn't disappoint! The perfect way to cap off an amazing gastronomic experience!

Customers will go back to Surf Burger not just for their food but because of their very courteous and accommodating staff. The kind of "friendly" which is not irritating. The kind of "friendly" which still gives you some space and privacy.

If Surf Burger has one noticeable edge over its competitors, it has to be their reasonable prices. Please don't get intimidated 'coz most of the items in their menu are already good for sharing. And mind you, they don't scrimp on ingredients! They have authentic SPAM on their burger and believe it or not sweet tooth friends, they top their ice cream with Snickers, KitKats and MnMs!

The place may be a little old but it's somehow clean. But I suppose it can be cleaner though. More polished walls and less dusty floors will do the trick.
