Watzke Brauereiausschank am Ring
The restaurant Watzke Brauereiausschank am Ring in Dresden is a good choice to dine with family, or just sit and chill with friends while enjoying their home brew beer.
When we were in Dresden, it was a Monday and most shops were closed. After searching around for at least 30 minutes, we found the Watzke Brauereiausschank am Ring resturant not far from the Dresden Old Town attraction.
Watzke prices are not cheap, but reasonable. Local and saxon dishes can be found here. The interior of the restaurant looks really nice too and staffs service were top notch. When we were there for late lunch, the restaurant was almost full. It is recommended to always make a reservation before visiting.
For appetizer, we ordered the mushroom soup. This is unlike what we usually had in Asia, it has a more vege than mushroomy taste. Was good though.
And we had a variation of herbal salmon, trout and butterfish with spicy horseradish, homemade dark bread and fresh salad. An authentic local dish, something we had never tried before. The salmon was nicely smoked and goes perfectly with the side dishes.
Next, a rather standard chicken chop. Only the mushroom sauce is something special. It actually goes really well with the cube potato rather than with the fried chicken. We felt the chicken chop was too hard for our liking.
Watze home brewed beer seems to be popular in the area. Most other patrons were just having their afternoon beer and not ordering any food.
Watzke Brauereiausschank am Ring restaurant has more seating capacity outside of the shop too. In spring and cooler weather, having a meal and beer outdoor can be really enjoyable too.
