Good Taste Restaurant: A place for good people

Twas a stormy week, cold and gloomy. The fog that enshrouds the city for how many days now is not uplifting. We found ourselves in the cheapest yet satisfying restaurant here in Baguio City.

We were supposed to have a late night meal, very late for it was past 11:00 when we were there. This restaurant is open 24 hours and is our go to almost anytime. When we cannot decide on a place to go, Good Taste is always the answer.

There are two branches in the city and we went to the Carino Street/Otek Street branch.

They have their own signature rice meal which is called Good Taste Rice - a combination of rice, two kinds of pork, chicken, vegetable and sunny side up.

We ordered for a different kind of rice meal and while waiting, ordered beer.

Even though it was raining and near midnight, the place is still packed.

We ordered one warm San Miguel Light and one warm Pale Pilsen. When our beer arrived, the Pale Pilsen was cold. We ordered another bottle of warm Pale Pilsen. I lile mine warm or cold but prefers a cold one.

These beers are locally made and are the popular ones here in our country. Beer is cheaper here too than in other bars.

We had to wait a little longer than usual for our oder to arrive I think because it is a busy night.

I ordered Lechon Tofu Rice with leeks, onions and mushrooms. My partner ordered Shanghai Lumpia Rice with vegetables. Food here is mostly Chinese style. This is influenced by the early Chinese who migrated to the Cordilleras. They were the first to put up restaurants and some intermarried to locals and the style of cooking was passed on and kept to this day.

When in town, don't forget to visit Good Taste and eat or drink some. Although they are open 24 hours, they only seve beer at a certain timeframe.

They have two branches, the original one is located at Magsaysay Avenue behind Baguio Center Mall. The other branch is at corner Carino Street and Otek Street near Burnham Park at Rose Garden. There is a facebook page but I am not sure if it is managed by the business itself. You can call them at 443-7959 for queries and reservation of room. They do not deliver but you can order and pick it up yourself.
