Puloculinary #77: Takeaway Dango in Arashiyama, Kyoto
When we visited Arashiyama in Kyoto, on our back from Bamboo Grove, we dropped in the shops selling Japanese street foods and snacks. There are many food shops at the opening of street to Bamboo Grove.
We dropped in one of the shops and bought some Dango and strawberry daifuku ice cream.
We would takeaway the food that we bought, and tried it while standing near the shops.
Lots of tourists bought these street snacks. Everything is delicious and tasteful.
This Japanese food is sweet, soft and melted in the mouth. I was addicted and bought another serving of dango.
It’s me eating dango.
Dango is rice flour dumplings on skewers. Usually dangos is topped with red bean paste and savory mitarashi glaze.
Dangos are usually served on wooden skewers holding between three or five dango pieces. And sometime they are also put on a plate.
If you visit Bamboo Grove in Arashiyama Kyoto, buy some of the food there. I believe that you won't be able to forget the experience.
Warm regard,
