US Tax Law -Robbing the Poor to Pay the Rich

in #taxation5 years ago

Netflix made an $850 million dollar profit last year, paid zero in taxes and got an extra $22 million in tax rebates. Imagine what arms dealers, oil companies and military contractors are getting. Many people expected the new Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to mean that mega-corporations would finally be paying their fair share , but obviously not much has changed.

When these giant profit-machines don't pay, guess who is left to make up the difference? Small businesses and working families, of course! Once upon a time, income was considered wealth returned from corporate investment. When plutocrats took government away from us in the late 19th/early 20th century, income was redefined to mean our wages, salaries and benefits as well.

This abandoned concrete slab in Corrales cost NM taxpayers a million bucks.

I just learned that New Mexico state legislators are given millions each year for special discretionary spending in their respective districts. This money has no oversight whatsoever, and ends up being used to pay for private barns, and never-to-be-completed shopping centers, among other obvious scams. If no one filed tax forms, this charade would cease overnight...Taxation is theft!

Sort:

In this case is the problem the taxes themselves or is the problem corruption? It sounds like individuals in government are using tax dollars for their own gain in this scenario rather than the public good. I hate that shit. The Case of Netflix is like all of the other major corporations that were founded and mostly operate in a country like America for instance but then move their headquarters to a country like Aruba to avoid paying taxes. Its bullshit
