Red Dead Redemption 2: Bandito Dorito. (First impressions)(SPOILERS)

in #teamaustralia5 years ago (edited)

Shootin', lootin' and trottin'. Eight years ago,Red Dead Redemption, the western-themed action-adventure game developed by Rockstar San Diego and published by Rockstar Games was released on may 21st. A young boy with the name of Aden played that game to his hearts content and loved every moment of it. Thinking back on those moments in the singleplayer and multiplayer brings back fond memories.

Fast forward to October of 2018 and it's predecessor Red Dead Redemption 2 is released. While excited for the release to the game, I also held some uncertainties towards it. What if it doesn't live up to my expectations? I held that thought in my mind moving forward towards the ever approaching release date.

Does it live up to my expectations?

Starting up the game and going through the loading screens, I seem to find myself staring at the slideshow of images like in previous Rockstar games, the style pleasing to observe and the images breathtakingly beautiful. The game starts and I start enjoying the cutscene that is presented to me. After a few minutes of cutscenes and introductions the game finally starts, and with that, the game presents the title of the chapter. A different approach to a Rockstar game, putting the story into chapters while still maintaining the freedom of exploration.

After a while the game started to get more into a rhythm of story telling and I was finding myself getting immersed. Completing missions and enjoying myself.

Continuing with some character building and damsel rescuing we begin our first heist. A train robbery! The plan is set, as are the explosives on the rails, except they don't go off. The chase of the train is now afoot! Quite literally, after jumping from an overhang you land on top of one of the train carts.

After some shootin' and bootin' you stop the train. And given another stunning cutscene.

Fast forward a few hours and the first chapter is completed, the game boasts 60+ hours of gameplay which is great value. Going into chapter two some story stuff happens we see some beautiful scenery and cutscenes and are introduced to native Americans observing the group from a cliff.

More story stuff happens, and we encounter our first town. Nothing too big and fancy, but small and quaint, I meet an unfortunate veteran, he had lost everything and all he wants is a friend. Asking the player to talk and then after some small chitchat requests a hug, I thought the character to be a sweet man. The man comments about the friend he used to hug during the war and how he had lost him. Then commenting on how the character had sad eyes.

I don't want to get TOO into it, as I haven't played all that much of the game yet. And not wishing to spoil too much of the game and mechanics so when I say "stuff" you know why. I might do a full review of the game after I've completed it, that's if people want to know more about it or want to hear my opinion. Overall I find the game to be breathtaking and enjoyable to play.

All images were captured on my Xbox one.

And as always, I'd like to thank anyone that took the time to read this, if you'd like to hear more, or anything like this, please up-vote, re-steem and consider following me for more content.

I keep hearing good things. Work has told me I'm a 'Leave Liability', which is a nice change from 'Lawsuit Liability'. Seems like as good a reason as any.

Sounds like an interesting plan to me, as long as you get to do what you want while still being financially secure.

At some point in time, I will get around to playing RDR

I have it collecting dust at the moment because there is no time to game but this post has been a great reminder <3 Thank you ! Tis nicely written and the screenshots are great <3

Cheers very much mate, its been good so far.

I recently bought RDR 1 because of all the hype surrounding RDR 2! I dont know if ill be able to play it but damn, the hype and the reviews all over the net! Haha

RDR 1 was such an amazing game, if you can I'd also recommend getting the Undead nightmare dlc with it. Both great storylines.

Yeah i got the GOTY version so the DLC is already bundled with it. Looking forward to playing it when i have the time! 😀

Sounds like a plan mate, have fun.

Horse testicles shrink in the cold. 10/10 GOTY.

Hell yeah they do, the attention to detail is great. Horse testicles for PM! Would probably do a better job than half the ones we've had.
