Fake News in the Longman Federal by Election

During the previous Federal election, the Labor party along with its union cronies and GetUp went on a corrupt bender spreading lies regarding Medicare and the lack of funding etc. You would remember getting Robo-calls about it, the good old Mediscare campaign.

This year, with our local member Susan Lamb being kicked out for being a dual national, the Labor party are once again up to their old tricks of spreading utter BS to scare the public into thinking they are being hard done by. Their biggest campaign at the moment is saying that the LNP have slashed funding to the Caboolture hospital. But below I have some actual facts.

In the Metro North Hospital area, of which Caboolture sits in, the funding has increased by 53%

In the 2012-13 Budget year, when Labor were last in charge of hospitals, the Caboolture hospital received $506,668,031 in funding.
In the 2016-17 Budget year, the hospital received $776,188,970, which is over a quarter of a BILLION dollars MORE. I don't see how they can honestly say they are cutting funding.

The Bulk Billing rate of all hospital and GP visits is sitting at 93%, which is actually one of the highest in the country. In 2012-13 this bulk bill rate was sitting down at 90%

Lastly, Medicare funding nationally has also increased exponentially.
In 2012-13, the national funding of Medicare was budgeted at $19.4737BILLION.
In the current year, 2018-19 the budget figures are sitting at $24.7285BILLION
In the forward estimates out to 2021-22, the spending is projected to sit at $28.7988BILLION.

Once again, I don't see how anyone in their right mind can say that these services are being cut at all.

This post isn't meant to be about slagging off either party, its meant to point out that unless you do your own research, you're being taken for a ride. If an uneducated person were to only look at the billboards in this area, they would be given a totally false impression of whats going on.

I wanted to know why they couldn't legislate to prevent blatant deception of the public during an election campaign. He says its an issue of Freedom of Speech.

So basically, don't believe anything anyone tells you, don't believe what you read on here, don't believe the news. If its an issue that is likely to sway your preferences or opinions, DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH and get the hard facts before building that opinion.
