Stop undervaluing what you have

So in the past couple weeks I have been affected by 2 real tragedies.

I received a call from my a very close friend a few weeks back. I could tell something was wrong instantly. Shortly into the conversation she told me 5 of her cousins were all in a serious car accident and died. I have been comforting her since as best I could, but when it's not so personal to you or you haven't experience something similar it's difficult to be empathetic and understand truly what they are feeling. Which makes it very difficult to provide the support they may be lacking or need.

Just today about 6 hours ago from writing this, my brother came into my room to inform me of some bad news. Our friend we work with was kidnapped last Friday. We had literally just seen him the night before at work.. It hardly seemed real, until you watch the news reporting on his kidnapping, his poor parents being forced to pay a ransom (which they paid immediately) and still haven't seen or heard from him.

My intentions have never been to write about tragedies or look for sympathy here. So that's not why I'm writing this. I'm writing this to remind you that no matter the problem you face right now or in the future, confront it and deal with it. Deal with it because you still have the opportunity too. Stop weighing small problems so heavily because when a big one hits it will knock you the fuck down. We all need to stop more often to appreciate what we really have, because it's possible that the thing you hold close to your heart may not be there tomorrow.

So please don't let the small things trouble you. Because you will be begging for those problems when they're gone.
