9 Productive Ways to End The 4th Quarter of 2018

in #teammalaysia6 years ago

Now, we are moving into the final quarter of the year, with holidays and pending resolutions to be realized, what can we do about it? I came across an article that shares useful tips for us to utilize and optimize our time and energy to do whatever we can for the last 3 months. Let us dive into it.

  1. Make a good preparation work before going to sleep. By doing so, we arrange and anticipate what will happen on the next day which will relatively reduce our stress level towards the unknown. This can be done by making a short checklist for the next day. Optimally, we can prioritize 3 items as the must complete tasks which no matter what, we must finish it by the end of the day. That would increase our productivity for the next day without the need to think what to do.

  2. Adjust our perception over time. Not to focus on holidays but rest days and working days. We can create a habit schedule whereby even during our rest days, we could do some light work like planning and deep thinking about our future. This can be very productive as rest days will segregate us from the usual work and distraction.

  3. Taking care of our own appearance is one great way to make us fresh. Not to say over makeup, we can ensure ourselves to be neat and tidy from our hair, body, clothes and even odor. Our mind will become much cheerful when we look into the mirror, seeing ourselves in such good shape.

  4. Keep others up to date by sending follow ups emails and progress report. Even though we may feel it is unnecessary to report, which we may think is redundant. Having our colleagues and partners informed about our status will drastically help others to be aware and they may be more helpful and understanding when comes to work.

  5. Get our schedule packed up. This will ensure ourselves fully occupied with productive tasks rather than procrastinating about the fun and chill time during the holidays. Make sure ourselves had our schedule arranged and filled up with different goals that will compliment to a bigger goal.

  6. Proactive talk with others about setting goals, getting inquiries, and strategizing plans. Usually in such a fresh start from holiday, we tend to have a blank mind to be filled, which makes planning more flexible and easier to be executed. This will inversely help each other to gain the momentum even quicker.

  7. Recalibrate ourselves on the goals and resolutions that we set during the start of the year. There are surely goals that we may not be able to complete fully, but we could do what we can to complete them as much as possible. From the statistic, a good ratio could be around 75% completion which is a passable rate for our own reference. Despite the worry of not achieving anything, utilize the final quarter of the year to do whatever we can.

  8. Talk less about our personal holidays which is to me, a private topic in the first place. We may have a very boring holiday which we may not willing to share with anyone. On the flip side of the coin, if our holiday is too fancy, we may get too much attention and jealousy which we may not want to get into such trouble. So, just keep it to ourselves and our loved ones. Besides, we may already put our holiday’s photos on the social media.

  9. If we overplay during our holiday and get our biological clock haywire, it is advisable not to use coffee or tea to replace our sleep. On the other hand, we could readjust back ourselves through proper rest, some short nap during noon time, meditation, jogging, yoga and even another form of exercise. That is why I do not like to make myself too exhausted as the repayment of ‘sleep debt’ is excruciatingly difficult.

Anyhow, there goes the 9 points on what we can do about on our 4th quarter of the year. Personally, I found most of the points are very useful and I am practicing most of it (not yet on 100% efficiency, especially on the listing tasks to be done). Nonetheless, I believe that as long as we train ourselves to be disciplined in some way, our days can become miraculously productive and satisfying. So, why not give it a try?
