Affinity in Autonomy: the Sony exhibition investigates the man / machine relationship

in #technology5 years ago

In our future there will be more and more robots. In particular, Japan is far ahead on this issue, having to tackle the problem of an aging population more urgently than other countries. The use of robots to keep people autonomous as long as possible is a theme that Japanese engineers have been following for some time and the aspect of the relationship between humans and machines is a cornerstone.

Sony is a pioneer in the sector and already in 1999 it launched the first Entertainment Robot: ' AIBO '. The most recent incarnation of this robot is the Aibo dog , shown by the company's CEO also at CES. The robot dog is an integral part of the exhibition ' Affinity in Autonom y', with which Sony wanted to be present in the Tortona area on the occasion of Design Week.
The exhibition will be open from 9 to 14 April and aims to investigate the relationship between human beings and robots and the possible emotions that machines will be able to experience with developments in artificial intelligence.

In five areas visitors can interact in different ways with artificial intelligences , whether they are personified by a luminous wall, by stones that move independently or by the little dog Aibo.

Installation is also a way to see some of the technologies developed by Sony, such as back -illuminated Time-of-Flight image sensors and CMOS image sensors for global shutter sensing applications .
