South Asia's first digital robotic restaurant is located in kathmandu in Nepal which is named as "Naulo" Restaurant."Naulo" means "New in Nepali". There are 5 robots stationed as waiters in the restaurant to serve food to customers. Three robots are named Ginger and two others are named Ferries. The restaurant is one of a kind in asia with an intriguing slogan "Where Food Meets Technology" .
The robots operate on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and are capable of taking orders, serving food and more interestingly communicating with customers in Nepali and English languages. Customers are appreciating their appearance and fun styling.The robots are quite witty and are oftenly seen cracking jokes to amuse customers. They are also able to answer basic IQ questions. These robots are designed and manufactured by Paaila Technology which is a Nepali company established by six young engineers.
Bina Raut, CEO of Paaila Technology and Naulo Restaurant, said that our robots are among the world's most advanced robots. They are user friendly and easy to operate.
Robot Ginger has a unique speciality thanks to the embedded AI technology of recognizing and memorizing things as well, there is also an auto dock technology for natural language processing. The interesting thing is that the robots can crack jokes also offers answers to some basic questions in English and Nepali languages.
Paaila Technology had earlier established a Human Robot named Fairy in a branch of Nepal SBI, after which it started working in the Hospitality Sector.
Fairy has been deployed in the digital branch of the bank known as inTouch branch, which functions as a source of information and guides customers.
The robot start work by greeting customers with "Good afternoon. Welcome to Nepal SBI InTouch".
Work of the Robots in the Restaurant:
The restaurant has a menu on a table in a digital form where the order is placed, which reaches directly to the restaurant's kitchen. When a dish is ready, the robot will pick them up from the kitchen and bring it to the customer's table.
27 Years old Raut who has completed his engineering studies from India and the UK, said, "We visited many countries like India, China and Japan to understand its design and framework before the launching the robot in Nepal. Now our goal is to present this Nepali robot in the international market.
Paaila Technology has invested at least 15 million Nepali rupees ($134,568) on research in this subject in the last few years.
