One for the Future #1: Stop Smoking with QUIT

in #technology6 years ago

Smoking. Horrible, yet 'cool'. Disgusting, yet 'satisfying'. Deadly, yet ... yet nothing, it's just deadly! According to WHO (World Health Organisation), each year, over 6 million people die from direct use of tobacco, and around 890 000 people die from second-hand smoke. Despite these horrific stats, smoking is one of the most difficult habits to get rid of. There are a ton of products out there to help smokers quit, some work and some don't. I'm here to introduce to you "QUIT", a product on Kickstarter that could soon help people all over the world, quit smoking.

QUIT

The App

QUIT has two parts that work together, the app and the case. Firstly, the app. It's just like any other goal-setting app. It gives you the choice to either set up your own goals or to use the schedules that are already on the app. It allows you to track how many cigarettes you smoked and how much money you saved. The app also has a forum, where you can speak to other people that are trying to stop smoking.

The Case

The case looks like an ordinary cigarette box, just way more stylish! It has an electrical lock function and an LED light that tells you if the case is locked or not. It has a low power microprocessor with integrated memory that controls all peripherals, including Bluetooth, and it is cleverly designed to stay in sleep mode for as long as possible, to preserve battery life, which is said to last for up to 2 weeks.

How to use

It's quite simple to use, all you have to do is set up you goals on the app and then put your cigarette box inside the case. Once you pair the case to your phone via Bluetooth, The case will then lock and unlock itself according to how you've set up your goals.

There are a lot of different products to help people quit smoking, and you might feel that none of them work, but I feel that it's great that they are so many, because believe it or not there are people that tried nicotine patches and quit, and there are people that tried e-cigarettes and quit. If you've tried it all and still couldn't quit maybe this is the product that would actually be the right thing to help you. Ultimately, with whichever method you go for, you have to actually want to quit.
