The Richest Man in the World Anxious to Build an Industrial Center on the Moon
Jeff Bezos, the richest man in the world has big plans about the Moon. Although he does not plan to live there, Bezos seems to want to build an industrial center on the Moon.
Bezos is not alone in building the space industry with his Blue Origin, he is said to be working with NASA (US space agency) and ESA (European space agency).
At the Space Development conference in Los Angeles, USA, Bezos spoke of his idea of making the Moon a center of heavy industry.
Bezos thinks heavy industrial development on the Moon will be able to save resources on Earth.
"Not in the near future, I'm talking decades forward, maybe 100 years from now.It's much easier to do the many things we now do on Earth in space, because it will take a lot of energy," he said.
Amazon's retail network boss also mentions, in the future, the possibility of humans will leave the earth and it is considered to make the Earth will be better.
According to him, there are many things that must still be provided by the Earth, such as minerals and resources that can not be sourced on the Moon.
For example, says Bezos, is sunlight for solar power, subsurface, and others. "And it looks like it's been set up," he said.
Just as information, Bezos through Blue Origin has proposed a partnership with NASA to create a landing on the Moon to test the possibility of industry and residence on the Moon.
The landing is believed to be capable of delivering five tonnes of cargo to the lunar surface.
Of course, all this is a plan, let alone the rockets produced are still suborbital. New Shepard rocket successor, New Glenn, is scheduled to fly in the 2020s. However, Bezos seems to see no reason to wait any longer.
When the time comes, Bezos hopes that the residence and industry on the moon will be joint, with the contributing countries in the "Moon Village" and join forces to make it better.
So far, Bezos has funded Blue Origin with money from his own pocket. Bezos is ambitious and will continue his plans until he goes bankrupt or someone takes over.
