Electric MotorBikes To Be The Next Big Thing After Electric Cars?

In the past few years the world has been taken by storm by the advent of electric cars that perform at par or even better than gasoline cars that too, in stylish bodies.

Tesla has undoubtedly been leading this charge with its Model S, X and 3 and the soon to be released Roadster 2.0. Not only are all these cars exceptionally efficient, they also possess autopilot capabilities, but that is a discussion for another time.

Other companies like BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, Honda, Hyundai and the likes have jumped on the bandwagon as well and now it seems that electric cars are destined to replace gasoline cars in the near future.

Adding to that trend though, it seems like electric motorbikes could be the next big thing in this space. Harley-Davidson is in fact going to start selling its much awaited LiveWire motorbike from August later this year, two years ahead of schedule!

The Next Cool Thing

I don't know about you but I personally get really excited about electric motorbikes. There is something about the futuristic soundlessness of one that makes me want to get one asap!

And it seems like a lot of people would want one as well, as that seems to be the general direction we are headed - a world with only electric vehicles in it. I hope that is as good for the environment as the current claims are being made.

Anyways, LiveWire will be able to cover 110 city-miles on a single charge which is quite good and could go from 0 to 60 in just under 3.5 seconds. All this has been made possible due to improvements in battery technology over the past few years.

There would also be no clutch or gears and that would make riding this bike as easy as riding modern day scooters. Also, the engineers of LiveWire have included a new sound for the bike which is supposedly very futuristic as well. The iconic Harley engine rumble will be missed though by long time fans!

The bike goes on sale in August this year and you can preorder one now if you'd like for a price of $29,799.

Great post @sauravrungta! An electric bike would be a great asset for traveling to remote parts of the world, Places which lack infrastructure such as gas stations. A simply foldable solar charger could fit in a backpack and you would have free power from the sun.

Thanks for sharing your insight

Yeah, it seems like a no brainer to make vehicles and bikes all electric. It would make it much more practical.

Imagine The Undertaker on an electric Harley...

Thanks for this

With a pricetag like that, I'm unsure if the Harley will sell, at all 😅

I think there are lots of fans who would try it and with time, it could get cheaper.
