The £350 Fortnite and PubG PC Build for June! - PC Tech - Part 45 - Gaming Budget Edition.

in #technology6 years ago

If you are strapped for cash and need a PC that can play Fortnite or PubG, then the June build will be the PC for you.

As many of you know, each month I choose a website where you can buy PC parts that have awesome deals on them to build a full system. This month I have gone back to the trusty Newegg.com online store as there is always a deal to be found on there. I have selected to build a heavily budget orientated system for those gamers among us that want to be able to play Fortnite or Player Unknown Battlegrounds.

CPU – AMD Ryzen 5 2400G - £119.99 / $159.00

  • The main reason I chose this CPU over any other is the integration of the Vega 11 graphics chip. This will allow you to be able to have full graphical capability that is comparable to an RX550 GPU without the need of having to pay the extra for a discreet graphics card.
The integrated GPU runs along side a powerful 4 core, 8thread CPU that has a turbo of 3.9Ghz which is unlocked for those of you who want to squeeze even more power out of it. It is also compatible with RAM up to speeds of 2933Mhz, again unlocked so you can get more power out of it.
The GPU side will need to utilize 2Gb of system memory in order to run at its full potential. And with the memory I have chosen, you will be able to get the maximum potential out of this APU.
The APU includes the AMD Spire cooler which is more than capable of cooling this chip down with a mild overclock, so there is no need for an after market solution, which also helps towards keeping costs down on this build.

RAM – Team T-Force Delta II RGB 8Gb (2x4Gb) 3000Mhz - £75.99 / $99.99

  • With RAM prices still being double what they were a year ago, there is very limited choices available for budget orientated builds such as this one. However, this 8Gb set from T-Force is one of the better options available.
Unlike some cheaper modules, this set has some good speed and fantastic timings that make this set worth the money indeed. The RGB, although it does add some flare for a custom build, is better than most others on the market and is compatible with several RGB based software, including the AsRock Sync, ASUS Aura, MSI mystic light to name a few. And well... its got RGB, you don't need an excuse to have it in your system.
With these modules being rated for 3000mhz, you can easily accommodate the GPU and CPU requirements to be able to push the system to its potential, and beyond.

Motherboard – AsRock AB350M B350 AM4 mATX - £45.99 / $64.99

  • The mainboard I chose for this system is a B350 board that is fully compatible with the APU and memory, combined with some awesome bios features that you don't get on cheaper chipsets like the A320's.
The board has a 6+3 phase that is capable of some mild to slightly aggressive overclocking that is also covered with a nice looking Aluminium heat-sink. The board, although small in size, still retains all the features that you will see on its bigger ATX brother.
The main selling point of this board is the inclusion of an M.2 socket for those that want an ultra fast OS on an NVME drive at 32Gb/s on this Gen 3 interface that uses a full 4 lanes of PCIe. The board also features a single PCIe gen 3 16X socket along with a PCIe gen 2 1x socket. And finally, the board is fully compatible with all the latest Ryzen 2000 CPU's as well as the Bristol Bridge APU's such as the one I chose for this build.

Storage – Western Digital Green, 240Gb M.2 SSD - £46.62 / $62.81

  • With the motherboard having the ability to accept an M.2 drive, it would be foolish not to take advantage of it. It will not only take up less room, but you will not have cables everywhere and it is very easy to install.
Although this drive is not a fully fledged NVMe based drive, the SSD still boasts some good read and write speeds that is comparable to some of the larger 2.5” drives.
Considering that Nand Flash is very expensive, this 240Gb drive is a bargain at this value that can contain and run your OS and a handful of games, but considering I am only building this to play only a couple of games, it is more than enough for this build.

Power Supply – EVGA 450w BT-100 80+ Bronze - £18.99 / $24.99

  • As soon as I seen this PSU, I was surprised that it was almost 50% of the retail value, so I immediately added to the build.
Yes I know it is not modular in any shape or form, which can be a hassle to cable manage. But when you factor in how little cable management is needed for this build, as you are only essentially using the 24Pin ATX and 8 Pin EPS cables, you can simply bundle the rest up with a couple of cable ties and be done with it.
The PSU is a 80+ rated power supply with 85% efficiency under full load, so it will do the job of powering this little beast of a build. It has a 120mmm bearing fan that will keep things cool and quiet, but the PSU also features Over Voltage Protection, Under voltage protection, over power protection and short circuit protection, which is a lot more than some other PSU's of similar or higher value offer. Basically, its a PSU that you can rely on.
Even though it is only a 450 watt power supply, it is more than enough to power for this low power system, but there is plenty of overhead available if you add or upgrade in the future.

Case – Apevia X-QBER-WHT White mATX Cube - £32.99 / 43.55

  • To house everything while staying under budget, I found this awesome looking white (I'm going through everything has to be white phase) Cube case that has a few unique features that a lot of other cases do not have.
The main reason I like this case so much is a combination of a few different things that this case does. To start, the motherboard tray is horizontal which makes for easy instillation while having the PSU mounted underneath in its own compartment next to the drive bays. It has dual windowed side panels so you can view the internals and those awesome RGB RAM modules from either side. The front and top of the case are hinged which makes building, cable management and access to the hardware much, much more easy.
The front I/O includes the usual suspects along with a card reader. There is a 5.25” and 3.5” bay on the face for those of you who still rock an optical drive or hot swap bay, or even a digital controller, I think its something that is sorely missed in the world of PC cases. There is also a 140mm led intake fan on the face too, which is more than capable of providing cool air to the APU cooler.
All in all it is an awesome looking case for the money.

This is an awesome build that was inspired by an 11 year old who wanted a PC to play Fortnite and PubG. He is still saving up to buy it, but this is what he is after.

The only downside to a build such as this is setting up the Bios to make sure the system can run at its full potential. You will need to set up the storage, memory GPU and CPU so they all work as described. So don't expect this build to work straight out of the box. But if you do choose to build this system and want help with setting up the Bios, get in touch with the community on the TechMojo Discord Channel or ask a local PC specialist to set it up for you.

What would you add or change about this build?
Let us know in the comments below.

Thanks for reading.
