Family Friendly Shows that Won't Leave You Bored

Before we became parents, we didn’t watch much television and didn’t think any of our offspring would either. Now we know this vice is unavoidable, especially on the nights following busy, exhausting days. On those nights, it’s nice to gather as a family and cuddle up on the couch and enjoy a good show. The problem is, it’s not easy to find a show that’s entertaining to both my husband and I, and our toddler. If you find yourself in the same position and don’t want to be stuck in a pit of boredom watching endless episodes of Paw Patrol, check out the shows we’ve found the whole family enjoys:

Adventure Time

This show is so silly and outlandish, that it appeals to both adults and children. The vibrant escapades of a boy named Finn and his best friend/dog named Jake in the strange, magical Land of Ooo are weirdly wonderful in their 11 minute episodes.

Gravity Falls
This show about myriad conspiracies and magical happenings in a small town is so ridiculously good for a children’s show. We started watching this as a family, but ended up binge watching it after our son went to bed.

Bob’s Burgers

For some reason, my toddler son loves this show. It might be because of the colorful animation, but my husband and I love it for the comedy, so it’s a win-win for everyone.

The Magic School Bus

For me, my enjoyment of this show is mostly nostalgic. But I also enjoy the informational adventures that teach simple science about everything from the human anatomy to outer-space to the ins and outs of plant growth.

Planet Earth
Even at a young age, it’s normal to be captivated by the natural world. This show marvelously showcases the world about us and it’s animal inhabitants. Educational and entertaining, this is a show the whole family can enjoy.
